Morning Cup of Joe – August 3, 2011

Each Day Wake Up With Purpose.

Many people begin their day by repeatedly pressing the snooze button. The blaring and sometimes startling sound of the alarm clock certainly adds to the poor reception of the morning. After twenty minutes and the end of the battle between you and your alarm clock, you finally drag yourself out of bed. You have officially started your day on the wrong foot.

How you start may not always determine how you finish but that should not prevent you from starting strong. The sooner you realize that you are in control of how you receive the day, the sooner you can start your day with purpose. Wake up and be thankful. Wake up and receive the day as an opportunity to get closer to achieving your dreams. It is imperative that you accept the fact that tomorrow is certainly not promised. While tomorrow is not promised, we do have today. Don’t delay starting a new project, writing that book you’ve always wanted to write, starting that work-out plan, etc. Don’t Delay, Start Today!

I’m reminded of a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt which truly summarizes this morning’s cup of Joe, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift; that’s why it’s called the present.” Unwrap the gift that is today and walk with purpose!

  1. Today’s purposes:
    1.Teach my son something new
    2. Hit these pushups/sit-ups
    3. Make my wife smile
    4. Do something that makes me happy
    Uh….here’s a commercial…time to get busy!

    1. Wallace,
The most awesome thing about lists is that somehow, perhaps magically, we cross everything off. You’ve heard that there is power in the spoken word, there is even more power in the written word. Keep making lists and checking them off!
