Morning Cup of Joe – August 4, 2011

Advice is free, that is precisely why everyone gives it as often as they do.

Imagine what would happen if people had to pay to give advice. It’s unlikely that this would ever happen but I’d like for you to imagine this with me. If this was the case, perhaps people would be more selective of who they receive advice from and who they give advice to. I would even venture to say that this would create an opportunity for the person experiencing the problem to simply figure it out on their own.

There is no greater feeling than figuring something out or solving a problem yourself. So many of us seek advice from people who have never experienced the problem we are hoping they will magically solve. There is no silver bullet that will solve any problem. What you must realize is that you are the one with the problem, you are the one who knows exactly the route you took to get you to where you are experiencing this problem, you are the one with the road map that will eventually lead you to the core of the issue.

3 Steps to Solving A Problem
1. Understand & take ownership of your problem completely!
2. List options and/or possible solutions to the problem!
3. EXECUTE! Try every solution until one inevitably works!

  1. I completely agree with “There is no greater feeling than figuring something out or solving a problem yourself. So many of us seek advice from people who have never experienced the problem we are hoping they will magically solve.”

Everyone should do their best to solve their own problem sometimes, rather than ask god only when they need something ! Thank you Joe Paul

    1. Thank you for your comment Ran. You are absolutely correct! If we are truly the captains of our ships and the masters of our souls, we’d better start acting like it or else…well, the “or else” is not an option. And rather than just ask God and hope for a miracle, even if we only call him when we need him, we MUST meet Him half way. Faith without work is dead. <— You get a sneak peek of tomorrow's Morning Cup of Joe!
