Morning Cup of Joe – Forgive & Forget

The motivation behind this message is a text my sister sent to my entire family. At first, I didn’t know the basis behind her text but she later shared. She mentioned how a co-worker of hers had passed on unexpectedly and how important it was to forgive. The message read “If you have anyone you know you’re holding a grudge against, please let it go and forgive them.”

We all have someone or some past event that is adding extra weight to our lives due to the fact that we have not forgiven them. It is critically important that you learn how to forgive and forget in order to move forward. If you do not forgive someone who has done you wrong or mistreated you in the past, you will continue to be stagnant. You cannot turn to a new chapter if you haven’t read the previous one completely. Simply, you cannot fully move on with your life if you haven’t determined nor completely dealt with what has been holding you back in the first place.

One of the most difficult things to do in life is to forgive. Once you build up enough nerve to forgive someone, only then can you start living a more free & fruitful life. Some folks may argue that forgetting is much easier then forgiving and I would absolutely agree with that. However, forgetting takes no effort and the issue still has not been resolved. You can forgive someone and they never even know about it. You can forgive by choosing to let go of the past and forgiving all those who have trespassed against you.

The reason why you have not reached the next level is because you are holding on to the memory of someone from your past who has done you wrong. Let go of that right now today. Forgive them for their wrong doings. Forgive all those people who came in and out of your life and added no value. Forgive everyone who thought you would never amount to anything. Forgive those people who didn’t realize how special you truly are. Forgive and find that a more fruitful life awaits you.

Some people may say that there are certain things that are unforgivable. I disagree completely. There are certain things that may seem unforgivable, but your heart should never be one of those. Choose forgiveness today.

  1. As I read paragraphs 1 and 2, I was trying to formulate a way to state that you have to focus on forgiving as a process rather than an event. But then, when I read paragraph 3, you expressed that idea. So good job. And very true, if you hold on too tightly to things in the past, they anchor you from soaring upwards into your future…

    1. There’s a lesson in that Chris. One must never formulate a response until they know the full story. I think I’ll make that a morningcupofJoe one of these days. Again, thank you for allowing me to share my cups with you. It is my hope that it is adding value to your life.
