I am going to let you in on a little secret; although it may seem as if all of my days are perfect there are some that are not. It is true that I choose happiness a majority of the time as I truly believe that it is a choice. Yet there are times when worry finds its place in my mind. I guess because I leave the door open and at times may even invite it when I don’t know what else to do. I encourage, inspire and motivate people as I have been fortunate enough to discover my purpose in life. However, there are some days when I myself could benefit from a little encouragement.
One morning started off like it normally did and my routine was nothing out of the ordinary. I meditated, then I wrote the morning cup of Joe; this is how I start every day. Although I did not do anything to interrupt the flow, there are external forces that we cannot control that will continue to attempt to infiltrate and interrupt our journey towards happiness, enlightenment and success. What we can control is how we choose to react to the trespassers, not the trespassers themselves. I went to bed that night feeling unsure and worried mixed with an ounce of sadness. That is not how I like to go to sleep but if you experienced a day like I had, your response would most likely be the same.
I tossed and turned for a majority of the night until I finally woke up to find a text from an amazing friend. The text read, “Matthew 6:25-27 – “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”
That is exactly what I needed to hear which is why I’m choosing to share it with you. I know you may be worried about something going on in your life right now. Pray that God grants you the serenity to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can and the required wisdom to know the difference. Being worried about your problem will not solve them; believe me, I know. Besides maintaining an understanding that you are not your problems, it is imperative that you continue to move forward in spite of the difficult situation you are facing. I do not believe that God brought you this far to let you go and neither should you.
Work diligently towards eliminating your anxiety and start walking in the understanding that the value of your life is priceless. Do not waste another minute of your life worrying, there are much better uses of your time.
