Surround yourself with like-minded people; especially those who want to see you succeed. There truly is something to be said about choosing the people you want in your life. While you may not have had much of a choice in who your family members are, you absolutely reserve the autonomy to pick and choose your associates; pick and choose wisely. The people around you should ultimately “have your back”. By “having your back” I mean that they should be exceptionally dependable and vice versa. The people around you should motivate you to be better. The people around you will determine how far you will go.

As I reflect back on the past, it didn’t really matter much who my friends were and truthfully it didn’t matter what, if any, influence they had on my decisions. In my naivety, I assumed that everyone who was around you was in your corner. Now that I’m older, I now know that I was mistaken. Now that I’m more experienced, the friends and/or associates who are in our lives are there by choice and not by chance. Since we choose our friends, why not choose a group of friends who have the ability to help you focus on the future? Why not choose some friends who aren’t satisfied with mediocrity? Why not choose some friends who make you want to live your best life now. We all know someone who is excelling tremendously in mostly all areas of their lives; that’s one of the people you want on your team.

When you think about the people who surround you, think about it from a team perspective. Perhaps the best example to consider is a basketball team. On a basketball team there are typically five players starting also known as the starting five; one of which is the star player. The star player is typically surrounded by four other players who help to balance out the star players knowledge, skills and abilities. In reality, you are the star player I speak of and it is imperative that you surround yourself with a team of individuals who are committed, focused and driven. Surround yourself around a team that wants to see you shine. Surround yourself with a team who isn’t allergic to winning.

You are or will ultimately become who you hang around with. Change your circle, change your circumstances.

To The Top!
