88 Keys and 6 Strings
When was the last time you did something for the first time? I have always wanted to learn how to play an instrument. Specifically the piano and guitar. It’s one of the few things remaining on my bucket list that I feel compelled to accomplish. To be honest with you, it’s not even about learning to play an instrument per se but more about stimulating my brain by learning something new altogether.
Granted, learning something new can be quite challenging which is probably why most people tend to avoid doing it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being out of your comfort zone; it forces you to learn, to adapt and to overcome. When is the last time you were out of your comfort zone? Hopefully not too long. Winners are never comfortable and are constantly looking for ways to improve. There is a sense of accomplishment and pride that also comes along with conquering a new skill.
The most important reason why you should consider learning a new skill is that you will challenge your mind and/or body to reach new and unexpectedly high levels. You’ll go places and do things that you never even thought possible. You’ll be able to push yourself intellectually and grow in all aspects of your life. You will serve as an example of infinite possibilities in a world starving for hope. You will be a better version of yourself.
Look on the bright side, many professional athletes, speakers and artists actually never knew what they were capable of until they tried something for the first time and saw great potential. I never knew if people would listen until I started speaking. What are you willing to do for the first time today? What new skill will you commit yourself to mastering?
Don’t just learn something new, master it! Don’t just master it, teach others.
