Morning Cup of Joe – The Silver Lining

20130312-073731.jpg
If only you understood the power you possess to create something of greatness from complete nothingness, your situation would be totally different. If you only knew how much unlimited power your thoughts possess, you would gain a better understanding as to why things are the way they are in your life. Your thoughts dictate what you attract into your life. Yes, your thoughts are that powerful. What continuously consumes your thoughts is what will continue to show up in your life. If you want different outcomes, you must change the input.

The Law of Attraction subscribes to the thought that “like attracts like”. What you think about you will attract back into your life. You have to practice thinking positively at all times if you are going to expect positive results; this is not easy. Just like anything else, if you truly practice at making this a habit, your thought patterns will become consistently positive and your life will improve dramatically. Don’t believe me? Try it and see! You must condition your mind to ALWAYS find the silver lining, even if there are no clouds.

This way of thinking is not without challenge. It is critical that you practice positivity daily. Each time you find yourself thinking negatively, stop yourself, and explore the positive side. There is always a positive side, always. Remember that there is more than one way to look at a situation. Everything is dichotomous in nature. You’ve spent precious time focusing on the negative, why not try the alternative? I have personally made it a habit to accentuate the positive in all things and at all times. I challenge you to do the same!

It’s only impossible if you think it is.

Morning Cup of Joe – Hitting A Bulls-Eye

When we set out to accomplish a goal or goals there are certain factors that must be in place in order for us to achieve optimal results. Our goals are simply fleeting thoughts until we decide to write them down and commit to accomplishing them. Oftentimes we sit and wonder why our dreams aren’t coming true while others seem to be enjoying their deserved blessings. I will tell you why some goals are easily reached while others may never be attained. In order to accomplish any goal you must clearly define your direction. Where are you going and how are you going to get there?

There is so much power in the spoken word and there is equal, if not greater, power in the written word. It is not enough to have your dreams and goals locked away safely in your mind, they must also be written down and reviewed often if not daily. You must clearly outline your objectives, write them down and feverishly execute until they have been accomplished. We tend to create barriers through our self-talk, convincing ourselves to reconsider making the first move. The first move is to write down your goals.

Understand that your goals are only unreachable if you think they are. There is no such thing as a dream that is too big or a goal that is not achievable. Once you write them down, almost like magic, the universe begins to put people, places and things in perfect order in order to assist in the dream realization process. Our goals must be written in order for the universe to act on our behalf. Do not be misled; writing your goals down is not enough, it is truly only half the battle; execution is of the utmost importance. Write down your goals, put forth maximum effort in order to execute those goals and at all times expect them to be accomplished. That’s a winner’s mentality.

Remember, it’s difficult to hit a bulls-eye without a target. What’s your target? How are you going to reach it?

Morning Cup of Joe – Desperate & Hungry

Have you ever wanted something so bad that you would do absolutely anything to get it? When we set out to reach our goals, our attitude towards the pursuit of those goals should be such that we will stop at nothing to reach them; I mean nothing. A winner’s mind-set is focused on the end result at all times. A winner understands that the road may have obstacles yet we stay prepared to face them.

The people who accomplish their goals most often are the ones who have the ability to visualize their desired outcomes while they remain focused on the task through completion. Reaching a goal through completion simply means through the good times of the journey and certainly through the bad. Believe me, there will be bad times. If and when the bad times inevitably interrupt the ebb and flow of your journey, it is imperative that you continue to press forward.

Imagine the level of hunger you would feel if you didn’t eat for a several days. You must approach your dreams and goals in a similar fashion. You have to be desperate to reach your goals. You must develop a strong sense of hunger that drives you to accomplish great things. If you didn’t eat for several days, you would most likely do anything to get nourishment. Act as if you really need this dream to come true and desperately pursuit it at all costs. The end result will be miraculous.

When it comes to your dreams, it’s ok to be desperate.

Morning Cup of Joe – Get What We Want

Sometimes we have to put up with things that we don’t like in order to get what we want. Sometimes we have to do things that we don’t want to do in order to get what we want. Sometimes we have to put our pride aside in order to get what we want. The question I have for you is what are you willing to do to get what you want?

One thing that should never change is you as an individual, your core values and your self-respect. Simply, you shouldn’t change who you are or compromise your beliefs just to get what you want. If you want something, you shouldn’t have to change who you are to get it. Your values are what guide your principles which influence your actions. You should never compromise your self-respect or self-worth just to get what you want. There are long-term consequences for every ill-advised decision we make.

When it comes to accomplishing your goals, realizing your dreams or simply getting what you want, your aim should always remain constant while you reevaluate your strategy. The end goal is to have that which you desire, in some cases and within reason, by any means necessary. If you want something and you haven’t gotten it yet, it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist nor does it mean that it’s unattainable; it simply means that you haven’t figured out the combination to the lock.

Be patient and continue to work hard while maintaining the unwavering belief that what you want you will soon have.

Morning Cup of Joe – Delays & Deferments

To defer means to put off to a later time or postpone a certain action. A delay is simply a period of time by which something is late or postponed. With one of these you have complete control over while the other you may not be in control as much. When you defer you are in many ways preventing the inevitable from occurring mainly because you are not taking necessary actions within a reasonable time period to ensure that it actually happens.

I want us to focus on the thing you cannot control; the delay. Have you ever waited on a bus or a train that was late? You anxiously look at your watch and recheck the schedule to see if perhaps you read the arrival time wrong. You peek down the road to see if you can make out a large object that may be a bus or a train. Right when you are about to give up on the fact that the bus may not show up, even though it’s a little late, it finally arrives. Although it did not come when you wanted it, it arrived when it was supposed to. Your dreams work the same way.

Just because something is late does not mean it is not coming. So many people give up on their dreams mainly because they expect it to happen by a certain time and when it does not they defer their actions which delay and eventually kill their dream. Dreams happen when they should. Now is not the time to put off tomorrow what you can do today. Now is not the time to contribute to the delay by deferring your actions. Now is the time to work even harder when it does not show up especially when you expect it to.

Treat your dreams like you would a bus or train that you expect to show up. Even if it’s a bit behind, trust, believe and maintain the faith that it will show up and eventually it will. Don’t lose hope.

Morning Cup of Joe – Decisions, Decisions

Every decision isn’t going to be the right decision. No matter the outcome you have to live with it. I have met people who were afraid to make decisions solely based on the fact that they were unsure of the inevitable outcomes. Let me be the first to tell you that it is imperative that you not allow fear to keep you from pursuing anything, especially your dreams. Fear is a feeling we create in our minds of perceived setbacks that may not even exist. If anything, allow the fear and anxiety you experience to become the fuel that powers you to push forward.

You aren’t going to be right 100% of the time. You may have to try something several times before you get it right. You will make mistakes. You will experience failure. The greatest difference between yourself and a person who is wildly successful is simply the fact that the person who is wildly successful did not give up on their hopes and dreams. Sometimes we think that a setback means that we shouldn’t be doing a certain thing. It’s the exact opposite. Every time you are met with adversity, it simply means that you are headed in the right direction.

On this journey towards success and self-fulfillment you will inevitably run into roadblocks, speed bumps, and various obstacles. Much like when you are driving an actual car and you encounter these obstructions, you try to find a way around them in order to get to your final destination. Life and accomplishing your dreams work the same way. You have to be willing to move pass any obstacle, push through any road block and search for alternate routes or ways of arriving at your desired outcome.

If you make a mistake, work on ensuring that the chances of it reoccurring are slim to none. If you veer off the road and simply took your eyes off of your goal, simply remember who is in control, grab that wheel and refocus. If you still want to be as successful as you should be, if you can read this, there’s plenty of time if you choose today to refocus on what’s most important.

Decide right now what it is you want out of life and go and claim what is rightfully yours.

Morning Cup of Joe – Speak Into Existence

What’s your personal self-talk? Meaning what do you say to yourself over and over again until either you start to believe it or it inevitably happens? Most people have no idea the amount of power their words have over their lives. Not only do your thoughts have the power to create but your words share that same power. It is absolutely true that you can speak something into existence. I have done it more times than I care to remember. If you speak success into your life, success will inevitably follow.

Do not be misled; speaking it alone is only half the battle. You must be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that it happens. Positive thoughts plus effort multiplied by determination minus negative energy equals success. When you wake up in the morning, what do you say to yourself? It baffles me how some people actually become frustrated when they hear the blaring sound of their alarm clock. Aren’t you the one who set it? Shouldn’t you be excited to see another day? I don’t use an alarm clock but it would be music to my ears. There are some who heard their alarm clocks for the last time and did not make it to see another day, about 155,000 people to be exact.

Speak life into your dreams because you have that power. Dreams have the possibility and capability of coming true if you believe that they do. Don’t spend your life wondering what could have been, go after it and make it happen. Do not be afraid to achieve. Don’t be afraid to believe. Don’t be afraid to dream. What if I told you that in order to make your dreams come true all you had to do is say that it will come true every day? Would you believe me? Would you speak it every day?

Whatever your dream is, whether it’s to start a company, make a certain amount of money, buy your dream home or a combination of all three, it can happen if you start by believing that it will then speaking it into existence daily. Your thoughts and your words have unlimited power if you breathe life into them.

Morning Cup of Joe – Dream Chasers

One of the toughest things to do is to take the first step. Many of us have the most brilliant ideas and dreams trapped in our minds and may never realize them because we simply won’t take the first step. There is something magical about taking the first step; a type of phenomenon where the stars align in our favor. While the first step is obviously an important one, the subsequent steps you take thereafter will be the difference between whether you will see these dreams come true or not. Take the first step and then the next and the next until the brisk walk turns into a marathon like run. Chase your dreams.

When we chase our dreams one of two things will inevitably happen; either the dream will slow down so that you can catch up to it or you will have to speed up to catch up to the dream. Your focus should be on the fact that this is a chase. Chasing your dream means you have to literally get off your rear and get on your feet and get moving. You will know when you are close to accomplishing your goal right when everything starts to seem as if it’s falling apart. This is only a test. A final exam of sorts to determine whether you can outlast the problem long enough to hoist the trophy. Don’t give up until and unless you claim your prize. The obstacles are just that; diversions. Stay on course.

All too often we get so close to reaching a goal but find it easier to throw our hands in the air and just quit. Quitting is the easy way out and easy is never good in any situation. Instead of giving up, you have got to get tough. You must outlast the obstacles that are blocking your way. Yes, outlast. Some of them you will be able to crush automatically but there will be a few that you just have to be stronger than; period. Remember that this is a chase, perhaps more like a marathon. And just like marathons the victor is not only the one who finishes first but the one who outlasts their opponents. Outlast, outwork and out-think your opponents and you will always produce outstanding results.

Remember, the incredible thing about chasing dreams is that sooner or later either your dreams will slow down so that you can catch up to it or you may have to speed up to catch up to the dreams. Eventually, if you keep chasing your dreams, you will achieve them. Dreams are preludes to reality; a reality you must create.

Morning Cup of Joe – Dare To Dream

Your future successes are based on the work you do in the present. Nothing is impossible and impossible is nothing. However, do you want to know why so many people dream impossible dreams? It’s quite simple actually, how much effort does it take for us to dream? Precisely right, it takes little to no effort to think grandiose thoughts, create these visions of grandeur or dream big. In fact, I encourage it. Unfortunately, the problem comes because this is where most people stop; at the dream stage. They stop at the dream stage and never progress to the next stage; the work stage.

The work stage is where you work to meet your thoughts and/or dreams half-way. I say half-way because thinking of the idea is truly only half of the way there; the second half consists of the work that you must put in towards making this idea a reality. Just like faith without works is dead, dreams without work is futile. Write down your plan of action. If you don’t answer the “how” in how you are going to make this dream come true, it will be nearly impossible to. The how is your set of instructions, your directions, your plan of attack. Your plan should be very detailed and precise, leaving little room for error. Once the plan is complete, execute.

Today is the day you choose to put that thing you’ve been thinking about to work. That thing or idea is worth absolutely nothing if it’s stuck in your head. You need to share it. You need to release it. You need to believe in it enough to take the necessary risk and see if it will work out; you never know, it just might. Much like you, I have hundreds of ideas that pass through my mind daily many of which I neglect to write down or choose to act on. There are others that I feel the need to at least try because you never know if that’s the million dollar idea. There is that one idea that pops into your head that evens surprises you; those are the idea(s) you should take and run with. When that happens, write it down and start working on creating it to share it with the world. We’re waiting.

Your ideas are worthless if they are trapped in your head. Open your mind and let them fly.

Morning Cup of Joe – The Dream Killers

What I have come to understand at this point in my journey is that most people truly don’t want to see you succeed. It is lonely at the top and misery loves company at the bottom. The group you choose to join will determine your ultimate outcomes. Both groups have plenty of space, choose wisely. We’ve been around these types of people before, if we haven’t been them ourselves; the type of person that starts hating on others accomplishments. When they see someone else doing well, they wish them more harm than good. The sad thing about it is that they have yet to realize why they have not experienced any success themselves. The reason is two fold; if you do not celebrate others successes you will never have an opportunity to have the tables turned and also because they cannot get past the fact that someone else is doing better than they are. Oddly enough, they never stop to ask what that person had to go through to get to where they are. I have appropriately coined these types of people as dream killers.

There are dream killers all around us. These dream killers attempt to deter you from pursuing your dreams because of their fear of following theirs. Dream killers can barely see what the next hour has in store let alone the next day. Dream killers cannot stand and cheer while the other fellow stars. Dream killers want what they are not willing to work for so they try to discourage your efforts. Do not allow dream killers to kill your dreams and redirect your focus from your vision. A vision is simply a glimpse into a future that you can create. Dream killers lack vision. At all times, focus on your dreams and desires and be sure to keep your blinders up.

No matter the details of your precious dreams and accomplishable goals, pursue them at all cost. There will be times when the words of dream killers sound more inviting than an RSVP, decline their invitation and push forward. There will be times when the road seems so filled with obstacles that you’d be better off just stopping, mash on the gas and keep driving. There will be days when you feel like giving up, keep going for one day you will cross the finish line and claim the victory that was yours to begin with. Keep in mind that the victory isn’t nearly as important as the fight that you make to win. Don’t give up. Don’t listen to the doubters. Don’t listen to the dream killers. Don’t stop believing in yourself.

Success is not easy, never was, never will be but success will be yours if you continue to believe in the beauty of your dreams. Tomorrow isn’t promised to those who have no faith or belief in the possibility that dreams come true.
