Morning Cup of Joe – Follow Your Heart

Follow Your Heart

I can guarantee without a shadow of a doubt that I am not the only one who has made a decision or decisions in the past that they regret. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be negative decisions but decisions that you wish you had a second chance at or the pleasure of having a proverbial reset button. Every decision we make, wrong or right, serves a light that illuminates our path.

I maintain an unequivocal belief that we are all equipped with an incredible sense of insight and intuition; I also believe that a majority of us don’t completely trust it. I can think back to several experiences in my life where I reached a fork in the road and was forced to make a decision; I think we all can. At the time, I did not know whether the decision I inevitably made would lead me on the path I’m currently on nor did I know if it would derail me altogether, yet I made a decision and didn’t look back. At the very least, make a decision. I decided to follow my heart.

During life’s beautiful journey, you will have countless people who will want to direct your path; that’s not their job to do. It doesn’t mean they don’t know where they’re going; it simply means that they don’t know where you are going. Only you can direct your path. In these instances, it is critically important that you trust yourself. People will give you advice because it doesn’t cost them anything. You are the one who has to live with the decision, not them. I’m not saying to not seek advice, I am saying to use it sparingly. Trust that the decisions you make will ultimately be to your benefit.

In the end, you only regret the chances you didn’t take, the moves you didn’t make, and the opportunities you didn’t pursue. Follow your heart; it will never lead you down the wrong path.

Morning Cup of Joe – Have A Little Faith

You may not be where you thought you’d be, but thank God you’re not where you used to be. We don’t thank Him enough for the progress we’ve made in our lives. There are so many of us who should not be here today but God sees it fit to give us an opportunity to leave a mark on the world. Don’t take His grace for granted.

Think back to a time when you either had a near death experience or a near miss; God was there. Or the time when you thought about taking your own life; God was there. Or the time when you thought you couldn’t go any further; God was there. He was there, He is here and He will never leave nor forsake you. He has proven to you time after time that He has your back; so believe in Him.

God hasn’t even begun to shower you with the overdue blessings that are meant specifically for you. First you must accept where you are today as where God wants you to be. Do not question your obstacle ladened journey, remain focused on your final destination. The fact that you are alive today is more than a blessing. God has big plans for you! Don’t stop believing that He will provide and He will never disappoint you. I am speaking from experience.

Morning Cup of Joe – Mustard Seed Faith

Many of us worry about our problems to the point where we leave absolutely no room for the discovery of possible solutions. We will sit and marinate on the problem as if that will help it solve itself. Worrying does not solve anything, it just creates more problems. In addition, the sooner you start thinking of solutions, the sooner your healing can begin. Understand that it takes a little bit of faith to get God working on your side but first you have to believe that He is able and He will prove you right every time.

Understand that it does not take an incredible amount of faith to make your miracle happen. We all know that all you need is faith the size of a mustard seed to get God working. Did you know that mustard seeds are the smallest of all seeds? Simply, you don’t need a whole lot of faith to meet your miracle halfway. Understand that your faith should always be stronger than your circumstances; whatever they may be.

At the time of any crisis in our lives, our issue or problem always seems insurmountable. Your faith should tell you that God will always provide no matter what. You have to believe that God can and God always will. Do not be misled; you must do your part so He can do His. You are greater than the sum of your problems. You are a conqueror by virtue of the many obstacles you have had to overcome in your life.

If you continue to walk, God will direct your path. If you continue to believe and have faith that this too shall pass, it will indeed pass.

Morning Cup of Joe – This Too Shall Pass

For far too long we’ve held on to the idea that the calm comes before the storm. Scientifically, this does make sense. However, I write this note encouraging you to accept a new way of thinking concerning the aforementioned statement. Please understand that as it relates to your life, the calm does not necessarily come before the storm. In fact, the calm typically comes after the storm; all you have to do is continue to fight and choose to hold on.

Many of us have experienced and continue to experience tumultuous times riddled with trials & tribulations. Rarely do we consider the fact that sometimes we have to go through a storm before we can fully understand the satisfaction that comes with the calm. Simply, if you are currently experiencing a storm in your life, hold on to the idea that all storms eventually pass. Some will argue that the calm comes before and after the storm. I completely agree. Do not be misled, the calm you feel before the storm is meant to prepare you for what’s to come.

Understand that whatever it is you are going through is temporary; you must be willing to endure. Like the old adage says; “trouble don’t last always”. Understand that if you outlast your storm, only then will you be able to appreciate the sunshine that inevitably comes afterwards. Hopefully this new knowledge gives you comfort and understanding that your storm will pass and that your sun will shine again. Make a decision right now today to choose to outlast your storm.

Maintain a firm understanding that after the rain, the sun always shines. After the storm caused by your problems have passed, your sun will also shine. No storm nor problem is everlasting, this too shall pass.

Morning Cup of Joe – God is Able

Let Go & Let God only after you have exhausted all of your options. Letting go and letting God simply means you have to know when your part ends and His part begins. It is imperative that you maintain an understanding that God is in complete control. The sooner you release control over to God, the sooner He can start working on your problem or situation. Do not be misled, letting go doesn’t mean completely releasing all responsibility to God; you must absolutely do whatever it takes to make sure that the outcome you are seeking is what you help make happen.

Obviously, God will never give you more than you can handle and we have countless examples in our lives where this is true. You must also know that He will never leave you nor forsake you. The strength and security of your faith will determine whether you overcome your obstacles or not. Letting God simply means trusting God to make a way out of seemingly no way. Maintain the unwavering faith and believe that He is able and you will never be disappointed. However, faith without works is dead. Not only is it important that you have faith that God will make a way but you must also work towards that which you seek. Just like you can’t do it alone, neither can He; do your part.

Take a moment to reflect back to when He created a miracle in your life. Think back to a point in your life when you thought no hope was left and even considered quitting as an option but he came through like a clutch player in the 9th inning. God made a way before and is capable of doing it again. The fact that you are reading this is proof of one thing, you are alive. And since you are alive, understand that you are greater than the sum of your problems. Understand that you have in your corner a King that has never lost a battle; you don’t have to wait until the going gets tough to reach over and tag Him in. Do it now!

He is more than able.

Morning Cup of Joe – Moving Mountains

The world is filled with two types of people; those who make things happen and those who watch those who make things happen. I am going to ask you to make a choice, if you haven’t already, between the two groups. Obviously membership in one of the groups has its benefits and clear pitfalls in the other. Once you choose the “right” side, you cannot turn back nor are you allowed to terminate your membership at any given time. Your membership dues are simply based on the effort you put into making the world we share a better place. Your dues are your contribution to the world around you.

To make something happen not only takes an incredible amount of guts, it also takes a reasonable amount of faith. And by a reasonable amount of faith, I mean you truly don’t need much. Remember, all you need is faith the size of a mustard-seed if you are having trouble moving your mountains. While your mind creates ideas, your hands must work to build them. Faith is the temporary belief in the unseen with the knowledge and expectation that you will inevitably see that which you focus so intently on. Allow your faith to guide and lead you.

From my experience, an abundance of rewards come when we take risks and maintain the necessary faith that it will all work out; eventually it does. Taking risks sounds riskier than it is; you simply have to step out on faith. Walk in the understanding that you were not born to fail. Whenever I see a void, I never wait to see if someone else can fill it. Never sit and watch as things happen, never. You have the necessary tools at your disposal to create anything yet so many of us are satisfied with someone else doing it for us; snap out of it. Grab your destiny by the horns and build your dream. What are you waiting for?

It takes no effort to witness a miracle; creating one is equally laborious.

Morning Cup of Joe – Bumps In The Road

I have learned throughout this journey that if you are intent on being successful then there are certain obstacles, trials and tribulations that you cannot avoid. To the untrained mind, it would seem that the universe is plotting against you to ensure that you don’t succeed. You would be surprised how many people have conditioned their minds to believe such things. They subscribe to the path of least resistance. Some even believe that they are not meant to succeed because it would all be a little easier if they were. This is totally not the case.

When we set out to accomplish a goal and work feverishly at it, we inevitably face “bumps in the road”. The most successful among us understands and accepts this fact. When that happens, learn to slow down, reassess your approach and try again. The common misconception about intentional challenges is that they are designed to break you. Consider the alternative; those same challenges are exactly what can make you. It’s truly all in how you view your situation. Embrace your challenges and view them as opportunities to get better, faster, stronger and wiser. The ultimate goal is to succeed no matter what challenges life may throw your direction.

The key word is survival. You must dedicate yourself to outlasting your problems. You possess the necessary power to do anything you want in this life, within reason. Do not misread nor misunderstand what an obstacle truly is. Obstacles are confirmation of the inevitable attainment of that which you desire. All obstacles have the capability to stop us short of reaching our goals. While that may be true, please understand and consider the fact that all obstacles are also meant to be conquered. The fact that you have survived this long is evidence that you are a conqueror. You are greater than your challenges.

Anything worth having doesn’t come easily. Keep fighting until you get it!

Morning Cup of Joe – Fighting Alone

Some people act as if they are fighting their own battles. So much so, that they neglect to notice the real reason why they haven’t lost a battle. We cannot reasonably say that we have lost any battles in our lives to date, especially if we are on this side of the dirt. The fact that you are alive today is proof that you haven’t lost the battle. Keep fighting.

We all go through trials and tribulations but none of us have to go through it alone. That is a choice most of us make, thinking that we are fighting a one man battle employing the concept of “me against the world”. News Flash! The real reason why you haven’t lost a battle is because you haven’t been fighting alone. Some people may think that they are the reason why they haven’t experienced a loss but they are sadly mistaken; God is the reason.

Understand that some battles aren’t yours to fight to begin with. I know a King who has never lost any battles. Would you believe me if you told you that you are a child of that King? If you believe that then what does that make you? You are exactly right, you are royalty. And royalty has its privileges. Remove from your mind the idea that you are the reason you’ve been winning. Give credit where credit is due.

If you truly understood the power your Father has, you would walk a little taller and embrace more challenges. You would also understand that you possess those same powers to overcome almost any obstacle.

Morning Cup of Joe – Waiting for God

When our prayers aren’t answered, we blindly attribute it to the fact that it may have not happened because God didn’t allow it or maybe that it simply wasn’t meant to be. Realize that some of our minds are programmed to automatically find excuses to failed attempts at something, in many cases restricting us from attempting it again. What we almost never do is pinpoint the real reason why our dreams aren’t coming true. We must become primary stakeholders in the pursuit of our own dreams and goals. If it doesn’t work out, stop blaming everything and everyone else; point the finger at the beholder of the dream.

When our outcomes aren’t favorable learn to take full responsibility. Stop blaming it on the possibility that it was not meant to be. Maybe you didn’t do enough to get it. Maybe you didn’t go as far as you know you are capable of going. Maybe the problem isn’t the problem after all. Maybe the problem is you. Start taking responsibility for the results your actions produce. It is not that God didn’t allow it. In many cases, the plan is ready to be executed but the executor simply gives up on what is considered feeble attempts.

Stop playing around and get serious about accomplishing your dreams. While you are sitting around thinking about what could be, winners are already out there making it what it is. Join the Winners Circle; there aren’t too many of us, yet there is always room for more. All it takes is accepting the blame for your misfortunes, picking yourself up off the ground and remembering that forward progress is the only acceptable direction. Well that and to the top.

Please remember that faith without works is dead. You can pray all you want to but until you start to do something about it, your prayers will seem as if they fall on deaf ears. Go claim what is rightfully yours! Sometimes we are waiting on God to make the next move all the while He’s actually waiting on us.

Morning Cup of Joe – Time For A Change

“But that’s how it’s always been done”, “I just don’t want to go through this again”, “Things will never be the same”; these are examples of the self-talk many people have about experiencing change. Most people fear the unknown for the same reasons they should embrace it. The fact that you cannot determine the future should be comforting simply because you should accept the things you cannot change nor affect. Conversely, accept the fact that you are equipped with the necessary tools to handle any type of change. We do not know what changes will come about in our lives but we must embrace them or risk being left behind. Change happens.

You have been down this road before and stared at the same street sign, this time make the right decision. It baffles me how many people stay in horrible situations simply because they have not figured out how they can survive outside of that situation. You are in control; plan then execute. What happened to the fight that was in you before you got into this situation? What happened to your “Not Me, Not Ever” speech? Exercise your right to understand that you have alternatives. Being miserable is truly a choice. Since we now know this as fact, choose to live a life worth living; even if it means starting over. The greatest difference between living the life you were meant to live and the life you are choosing to live now is a matter of personal choices.

The Civil Rights Movement brought about positive change in America. The road was long, the task arduous and the mission seemingly impossible yet these brave souls were committed to change, even if it meant their lives. Are you willing to die for something you believe in? Imagine a world where the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Winston Churchill and Gandhi simply accepted things as they were and did not champion change.

Change is good, especially if you take advantage of the incredible amount of opportunity that comes with it. You should strive to stay prepared as you never know when you will experience change but be certain that it will inevitably happen. It is not a question of “if” change will happen in our lives; it’s a question of “when”. Be prepared and commit to memory the fact that you don’t have to get ready if you stay ready.

This is a New Day and the world welcomes the New You! There is nothing wrong with pressing the reset button if the system freezes.
