Morning Cup of Joe – Fighting Alone

20130321-070728.jpg
Some people act as if they are fighting their own battles. So much so, that they neglect to notice the real reason why they haven’t lost a battle. We cannot reasonably say that we have lost any battles in our lives to date, especially if we are on this side of the dirt. The fact that you are alive today is proof that you haven’t lost the battle. Keep fighting.

We all go through trials and tribulations but none of us have to go through it alone. That is a choice most of us make, thinking that we are fighting a one man battle employing the concept of “me against the world”. News Flash! The real reason why you haven’t lost a battle is because you haven’t been fighting alone. Some people may think that they are the reason why they haven’t experienced a loss but they are sadly mistaken; God is the reason.

Understand that some battles aren’t yours to fight to begin with. I know a King who has never lost any battles. Would you believe me if you told you that you are a child of that King? If you believe that then what does that make you? You are exactly right, you are royalty. And royalty has its privileges. Remove from your mind the idea that you are the reason you’ve been winning. Give credit where credit is due.

If you truly understood the power your Father has, you would walk a little taller and embrace more challenges. You would also understand that you possess those same powers to overcome almost any obstacle.

Morning Cup of Joe – The Bus Driver

A client called in for his regularly scheduled life coaching session and started off the conversation by saying “Joe, I have to get off that damn bus. I hate driving it.” He continued to talk about the disdain he had for the salary he earned and how it simply was not enough to do what he needed to do to provide for his family. He concluded that he hated his job and was just not satisfied. After he shared his dissatisfaction with his current state of affairs he concluded with a question and asked “so, what can I do about it and why can’t I get out of the rut that I am in?” Here is what I told him.

Before the universe will provide you with the riches of the world, you must first be thankful for what you have. You may not be able to see the value in the things you have because your focus is on the things you want. Find joy in the fact that while you may not be in the job you want, you are at least gainfully employed. That’s more than the millions of unemployed people around the United States can say. I also told him that if it wasn’t for the bus he drove, we would have never met. You have to find joy in the fact that you have good health, have a loving family and are able to use your five senses. You have to find joy in the fact that your life is defined by more than your position in life. You have to find joy in the fact that where you are today isn’t where you will be tomorrow.

When we underappreciate what we have, it becomes increasingly difficult to appreciate what is possible. What are you willing to do to change your circumstances? The first thing is to start by changing the way you look at them. Life really isn’t that bad, especially if you don’t accept it as so. The energy that you put out is exactly what you will get in. If you invest your precious time worrying about the things you cannot change eventually you will run out of time to focus on what is truly important in life. We all want to be in a better place than we currently are but it is imperative that you are thankful that you’ve gotten this far.

Be thankful for what you have and find the beauty in the blessings you already have. If you apply this simple rule then you can have the desires of your heart.

Morning Cup of Joe – What’s Missing?

It is hard for some people to wrap their minds around all of the blessings they have in their lives. For many more who tend to focus on the things they don’t have, very rarely are they thankful for the things that are present. Many people falsely focus on the absence of a particular thing or the nonexistence of it. Simply, they focus on what they don’t have and what is lacking from their lives rather than the things that are present. The interesting thing about our thoughts is that they have the incredible power to become things. If you always focus on what you are lacking, you will continue to lack those things.

The power of the mind is such that if you focus intently on something and maintain unwavering belief that you can have it, it shall be yours. The universe has a way of rearranging certain things and aligning stars in our favor so that we may have that which we desire most. The interesting thing about the universe is that it cannot distinguish between good thoughts and bad thoughts; it’s designed to make present in your life whatever you think about the most. If you have been experiencing lack in your life, it’s most likely because you have been intently focused on the things that are missing rather than being grateful for the things that are already there.

The answer is simple, instead of focusing on what you’re missing; try focusing on what you have that everyone else is missing. We are all blessed with unique gifts and talents to be used to fuel and power our dreams which will assist us in the pursuit of living an abundant life. You may look at someone else and marvel at their success but understand that they simply used their gifts to get to where they are. When you focus on what’s missing, you redirect the focus from what is already there.

Everyone was born with a specific set of gifts that is unique to them. It is imperative that you start focusing on what you have that everyone else does not. Redirect your focus back to the person that matters most; yourself. It matters not what you think you don’t have, at least you have sight to read this message and there are some who don’t even have that gift.

Reexamine your gifts and be grateful for all of your blessings. The only thing you may lack is the understanding of how overwhelmingly blessed you truly are.
