Morning Cup of Joe – As A Man Thinketh

20131115-071456.jpg

During a recent life coaching session, a client contacted me because they were nervous about a position they had applied for. Naturally, we all get a little nervous when we are unsure of a particular outcome. As the session continued she said something that caused me to pause. She said “I don’t think I’m going to get the position”. My reply was simply, “How do you know?” I was very confused as to why she thought she would not get a position in which she hasn’t even interviewed for yet.

Oftentimes we talk ourselves out of opportunities because we lack the understanding that our words are extremely powerful and have the rare ability to create our reality. In addition, our thoughts have the ability to become things. Most people have difficulty understanding why they don’t win as often as others do. Some believe that they are just plain unlucky. I am here to tell you that success has absolutely nothing to do with luck and everything to do with how you think, what you say and being ready to accept challenges head on.

Like the old adage says, “As a man thinketh, so is he”. If you think you cannot accomplish something, chances are you won’t. It is imperative that you change your mindset if you are not currently experiencing the joy of accomplishment. Most winners win because they think and believe that they can. There are no secret recipes to winning. It simply starts with your self-talk; what you constantly tell yourself about your situation. At all times maintain a positive mental attitude and you will attract positive things into your life. Believe that you can and you inevitably will.

Success is reserved for those who believe they can succeed; it’s all in your state of mind. Think BIG or don’t think at all.

Morning Cup of Joe – Wishing Well

20130830-072746.jpg

Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it. Once you get it, be sure you know what to do with it. Most of us ask for things we really don’t want. I had a friend who was working but absolutely hated his job. He would complain about it daily while discovering new deficiencies that was wrong with his co-workers. His wish was to get fired. He wished upon every star in the sky that his employers would dismiss him and much to his dismay they never did.

One morning he followed his same routine, arriving in a bad mood wishing his normal wish. Later that same afternoon, he was summoned to Human Resources for a meeting. The meeting lasted a few minutes and at the conclusion of the meeting, his wish had been granted. He didn’t know how to react; naturally he didn’t see it coming or did he? He didn’t have a “plan b” after he got what he’s been asking for.

Again, be careful what you wish for. Here’s a person who was gainfully employed with a great organization wishing and hoping he’d get fired. Well, he got what he wished for. Now what?

Understand that these wishes come true, good and bad. Before experiencing a similar fate, if in fact you are the type to make wishes, I encourage you to wish for good things. At least you won’t be disappointed when they come true.

Morning Cup of Joe – INTENTION

20130829-065644.jpg

Has there ever been a time when you started thinking about someone and then out of the blue they call you? Or had a burning question you were dying to have answered and magically the commercial that just went off answered it? Or how about the time when you are thinking about a song and it comes on the radio? Well, this may come as a surprise to some but the fact that this phenomena is occurring cannot be dismissed as mere coincidence.

It is through the power of intention that you are able to attract certain things into your life; good, bad and certainly ugly. When I first read Wayne Dyer’s book “The Power of Intention”, I was not sure what to expect nor did I fully understand the dynamic paradigm shift that was about to occur. Basically, the power of intention speaks to attracting that which you think about most. Specifically the Law of Attraction which suggests that you attract into your life what you focus your mind on the most. I did not know why I was experiencing this but it helped to explain it.

Understand that the “thing” you’ve been thinking about lately is about to happen. That person who has been occupying your mind space is a phone call away. The life you know you deserve to live is still a possibility. Your goal is to keep your eyes on the prize and your mind on the finish line. Allow your mind to focus on what you want to attract into your life and it will begin to show up. This requires a little bit of faith, the size of a mustard seed and the ability to believe in the unseen.

Your thoughts have the incredible power to become things. Whatever you focus your mind on the most is what will show up in your life.

Morning Cup of Joe – Dream the Impossible

20130806-072732.jpg

Your future success is based on the work you do in the present. Do you want to know why so many people dream impossible dreams? It’s quite simple actually, how much effort does it take for us to dream? Precisely right; it takes little to no effort to think of grandiose thoughts or create these visions of grandeur. In fact, I encourage it. The problem is; this is where most people stop. They stop at the dream stage and never progress to the next stage; the work stage.

The work stage is where you work to meet your thoughts and/or dreams half-way. I say half-way because thinking of the idea is truly only half of the way there; the second half consists of the work that you must put in towards making this idea a reality. Write down your plan of action. If you don’t answer the “how” in how you are going to make this dream come true, it will be almost impossible to do it. The how is your set of instructions, your directions, your plan of attack. Your plan should be very detailed, precise and leave little room for error.

Today is the day you choose to put that thing you’ve been thinking about to work. That thing or idea is worth absolutely nothing if it’s stuck in your head. You need to share it. You need to release it. You need to believe in it enough to take the risk and see if it will work out; it just might. Much like you, I have tons of ideas that pass through my mind on a daily basis and don’t necessarily act on all of them. However, there are ideas that pop into your head that evens surprises you. When that happens, write it down and start working on creating it in order to share it with the world. We’re waiting.

Having seemingly impossible dreams is much better than having no dreams at all.

Morning Cup of Joe – Self Improvement

20130712-071125.jpg

How much time did you spend focused on improving yourself yesterday? How many hours do you typically spend on perfecting your craft daily? The amount of hours you invest into bettering yourself pales in comparison to the benefits you receive as a result of this investment. If you don’t already have one, create a mental picture of where you are supposed to be in life. A mental picture is a snap-shot or a bird’s eye view of your future. Create, maintain and work towards developing the image of your desired future in your mental picture.

What needs the most improvement in your life today? Before we can begin to correct a problem, we must first identify it. Step one is to clearly identify what needs to change in your life. This will not be difficult as we are our worst critics and I am certain that you are thinking of a few things at this very moment. There are things in your life that simply cannot continue to remain the same especially if you want things to be different. Things will change but you must change first. If those things continue to stay the same, they are and will be a detriment to your achievement of ultimate happiness. You deserve happiness.

The change we seek begins with our mind-set or state of mind. Your state of mind must be in the “right place” at all times. The “right place” mindset is simply a mindset that is constantly focused on self-improvement & positivity. Condition your mind to always think of ways to improve yourself. Once these discoveries are made, you must feverishly work to drive the change you seek. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like osmosis; the changes won’t happen just by thinking about them, you have got to put in work.

We all need improvement in all aspects of our lives. Make this day and every day count by using each day to find ways to better yourself. Today is the tomorrow you talked about yesterday. When tomorrow comes, how much better will you be?

Morning Cup of Joe – Belief System

20130603-071049.jpg

If you want something bad enough you have to believe you are going to get it before it shows up. Recently, I was reminded of this fact when my thoughts were intently focused on something in particular and although my thoughts eventually became a reality, it was not by magic. The amazing thing is that the universe works in favor of those who put effort into that which they seek. Maintain a stern belief that your thoughts will come to pass and they certainly will.

The first step to creating and realizing any goal or dream is to maintain an unwavering belief that the goal or dream will be accomplished. Believe it then see it not the other way around. Not only is maintaining a strong belief important, we must also consider other critical elements in the chain of events that eventually leads to the accomplishment of that dream; effort and time. Basically, believe that it will happen then put effort towards making it happen and it inevitably will.

Your mind has the power and incredible ability to create anything it wants, yes anything. If you think about something hard enough it will eventually fall into your lap. Understand that it may take anywhere from one day to many years to finally realize that which has been occupying your mind space. It is always worth the wait. The goal is to not stop until you get what you’ve been thinking about while working towards ensuring that it absolutely does. Now that you understand the importance of belief, effort and time; I challenge you to share this knowledge with others. You may change a life.

Morning Cup of Joe – Hitting A Bulls-Eye

When we set out to accomplish a goal or goals there are certain factors that must be in place in order for us to achieve optimal results. Our goals are simply fleeting thoughts until we decide to write them down and commit to accomplishing them. Oftentimes we sit and wonder why our dreams aren’t coming true while others seem to be enjoying their deserved blessings. I will tell you why some goals are easily reached while others may never be attained. In order to accomplish any goal you must clearly define your direction. Where are you going and how are you going to get there?

There is so much power in the spoken word and there is equal, if not greater, power in the written word. It is not enough to have your dreams and goals locked away safely in your mind, they must also be written down and reviewed often if not daily. You must clearly outline your objectives, write them down and feverishly execute until they have been accomplished. We tend to create barriers through our self-talk, convincing ourselves to reconsider making the first move. The first move is to write down your goals.

Understand that your goals are only unreachable if you think they are. There is no such thing as a dream that is too big or a goal that is not achievable. Once you write them down, almost like magic, the universe begins to put people, places and things in perfect order in order to assist in the dream realization process. Our goals must be written in order for the universe to act on our behalf. Do not be misled; writing your goals down is not enough, it is truly only half the battle; execution is of the utmost importance. Write down your goals, put forth maximum effort in order to execute those goals and at all times expect them to be accomplished. That’s a winner’s mentality.

Remember, it’s difficult to hit a bulls-eye without a target. What’s your target? How are you going to reach it?

Morning Cup of Joe – Dare To Dream

Your future successes are based on the work you do in the present. Nothing is impossible and impossible is nothing. However, do you want to know why so many people dream impossible dreams? I say half-way because thinking of the idea is truly only half of the way there; the second half consists of the work that you must put in towards making this idea a reality. Just like faith without works is dead, dreams without work is futile. Write down your plan of action. If you don’t answer the “how” in how you are going to make this dream come true, it will be nearly impossible to. The how is your set of instructions, your directions, your plan of attack. Your plan should be very detailed and precise, leaving little room for error. Once the plan is complete, execute.

Today is the day you choose to put that thing you’ve been thinking about to work. That thing or idea is worth absolutely nothing if it’s stuck in your head. You need to share it. You need to release it. You need to believe in it enough to take the necessary risk and see if it will work out; you never know, it just might. Much like you, I have hundreds of ideas that pass through my mind daily many of which I neglect to write down or choose to act on. There are others that I feel the need to at least try because you never know if that’s the million dollar idea. There is that one idea that pops into your head that evens surprises you; those are the idea(s) you should take and run with. When that happens, write it down and start working on creating it to share it with the world. We’re waiting.

Your ideas are worthless if they are trapped in your head. Open your mind and let them fly.

Morning Cup of Joe – Power You Possess

The Law of Attraction subscribes to the thought that “like attracts like”. Simply, by focusing on positive or negative thoughts, you have the power to bring about positive or negative results. What you think about you will attract back into your life. You have to practice thinking positively at all times if you are going to expect positive results; this is not easy. Just like anything else, if you truly practice at making this a habit, your thought patterns will become consistently positive and your life will improve dramatically. Don’t believe me? Try it and see! You must condition your mind to ALWAYS find the silver lining, even if there is no cloud.

If only you understood the power you possess to create something of greatness from complete nothingness, your situation would be totally different. If you only knew how much unlimited power your thoughts possess, you would gain a better understanding as to why things are the way they are in your life. Your thoughts dictate what you attract into your life. Yes, your thoughts are that powerful. What continuously consumes your thoughts is what will continue to show up in your life. If you want different outcomes, you must change the input.

This way of thinking is not without challenge. It is critical that you practice positivity daily. Each time you find yourself thinking negatively, stop yourself, and explore the positive side. There is always a positive side, always. Remember that there is more than one way to look at a situation. Everything is dichotomous in nature. You’ve spent precious time focusing on the negative, why not try the alternative? I have personally made it a habit to accentuate the positive in all things and at all times. I challenge you to do the same!

It’s only impossible if you think it is. Nothing is impossible and impossible is nothing.
