Morning Cup of Joe – Man In The Mirror

Some may find this hard to believe but I do not own an alarm clock. In fact, my internal alarm clock is set to wake me up at or before 6:30AM every morning, weekends included, and it never fails. It is a very calm way to arise from a deep slumber and certainly beats the alternative of the blaring and annoying sound of a traditional alarm clock that is meant to startle you out of your sleep. Well, this morning was no different except for the fact that I stared in the mirror for about a minute or so as I thought to myself; “Am I where I want to be at this stage in life?”, “Am I as successful as I thought I would be by this point in my life?” and “What am I willing to do to get what I think I deserve from this life?”.

We all have moments where we contemplate where we are, how we got there and can we go a little further. These thoughts are not unusual and provide for deep introspection and self-examination. It is better to have these types of thoughts than to go about your day in a robotic sheep-like fashion. Unfortunately, contemplating alone never created anything. You can’t think your way to a better physique or health. You can’t think your way to a better job. You can’t think your way into a better relationship. Do thoughts have the capability and capacity to become things? They certainly do. However, you must be willing to do your fair share to make those thoughts become things. Imagine a life where all you had to do was think of something and it suddenly appears. I don’t know about you but to me that is a scary thought based on some of the malevolent minds in the world.

As I stared in the mirror and contemplated about my life and accomplishing goals, I had a moment of clarity. The only person keeping you from accomplishing your goals is the person you see in the mirror. No one else is responsible for your outcomes, successes and failures except for you. If you want to lose weight, stop eating unhealthily and start exercising. If you want a better job, stop complaining about your current one and start looking for a better more fulfilling one. If you want a better relationship, stop complaining about how terrible your significant other is and start finding someone who appreciates you for who you are. Stop thinking and start doing.

It’s really simple, start taking full responsibility for your actions and your inactions. You cannot blame the world for your personal problems. Only you can fix what you know is broken simply because you are equipped with the tools necessary to fix your own problems. You can’t count on anyone else to do it. If you want the best that life has to offer, ask the person in the mirror what they are willing to do about it.

Morning Cup of Joe – Empire State of Mind

The idiom Rome wasn’t built in a day simply means that it is easier to destroy things than it is to create them. It also means that in order to build an empire or an empire state of mind, it takes time, effort and an incredible amount of determination. From the beginning to the end, history shows that the influence and rule of the Roman Empire lasted over 500 years and at its height spanned a geographical area of over two and a half million square miles. Eventually, like anything that rises, the empire fell. Why is this important?

I want to parallel one of the greatest civilizations to your life. It is imperative that you understand that your success in life and love is solely based on the effort you put into it, the determination you make to guarantee that it happens and the commitment you have to ensuring that it is maintained at a particular heightened level. If you want to build a strong relationship then you must learn that trust is the most critical piece. You must first learn to trust yourself, your abilities and capabilities before anyone else can fully trust you. You must unequivocally believe that success in every aspect of your life is possible before it comes to fruition.

Let’s talk about belief for a second. Your belief system is what guides your thoughts which in turn guide your life. You truly are and will become that which you think about most and indisputably believe. I am convinced that Julius Caesar believed that he could conquer the world and at one point it certainly seemed as if it were going to happen. The empire state of mind is what you must apply to your life and all of your dealings if you want to reap the benefits a mindset like this one brings. An empire state of mind is a bulletproof mindset with laser sharp focus that does not allow external forces to penetrate the mission and vision of the one who holds the keys to their thoughts. You are in control of your own destiny.

Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your dreams. You too can experience the success that the Roman Empire enjoyed if you adopt an empire state of mind. Where will your thoughts lead you?

Morning Cup of Joe – What’s Missing?

It is hard for some people to wrap their minds around all of the blessings they have in their lives. For many more who tend to focus on the things they don’t have, very rarely are they thankful for the things that are present. Many people falsely focus on the absence of a particular thing or the nonexistence of it. Simply, they focus on what they don’t have and what is lacking from their lives rather than the things that are present. The interesting thing about our thoughts is that they have the incredible power to become things. If you always focus on what you are lacking, you will continue to lack those things.

The power of the mind is such that if you focus intently on something and maintain unwavering belief that you can have it, it shall be yours. The universe has a way of rearranging certain things and aligning stars in our favor so that we may have that which we desire most. The interesting thing about the universe is that it cannot distinguish between good thoughts and bad thoughts; it’s designed to make present in your life whatever you think about the most. If you have been experiencing lack in your life, it’s most likely because you have been intently focused on the things that are missing rather than being grateful for the things that are already there.

The answer is simple, instead of focusing on what you’re missing; try focusing on what you have that everyone else is missing. We are all blessed with unique gifts and talents to be used to fuel and power our dreams which will assist us in the pursuit of living an abundant life. You may look at someone else and marvel at their success but understand that they simply used their gifts to get to where they are. When you focus on what’s missing, you redirect the focus from what is already there.

Everyone was born with a specific set of gifts that is unique to them. It is imperative that you start focusing on what you have that everyone else does not. Redirect your focus back to the person that matters most; yourself. It matters not what you think you don’t have, at least you have sight to read this message and there are some who don’t even have that gift.

Reexamine your gifts and be grateful for all of your blessings. The only thing you may lack is the understanding of how overwhelmingly blessed you truly are.
