Morning Cup of Joe – Sticktoitiveness

When you set out to accomplish a goal it is critically important that you stick with it and see it through to completion. Now, re-read the first sentence a few more times. Most of the time when we take the initiative to start something, it is almost certain that we are going to be met with obstacles; some of which we cannot avoid. The goal is to simply focus on what matters most; finishing and finishing strong. Remember, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish that matters most.

It costs you absolutely nothing to create a goal nor does it cost you anything to have the desire to pursuit a dream. The cost that you must consider when you are attempting to make your dreams come true is the price you are willing to pay to make certain that they do. Sweat equity is what you must be willing to invest in order to see a positive end result. Your goals are truly an arm’s reach away but you cannot get to them if you’re sitting down. Stand up and chase your dreams. Do not stop until you get them and even after that, keep going.

The road to success will seem long and at times bumpy but commit to memory the fact that you were born to win. I firmly believe that you were not put on this earth to lose. You were put on this earth to make an impact on the world around you. We all have a purpose in life; the goal is to discover yours then share it with the world. Do not think about the journey, simply focus on the destination. It doesn’t matter how you get there, just get there.

Remember, anyone can set a goal but it takes a winner to complete one.

Morning Cup of Joe – Attitude, Altitude, Aptitude

If you would like to accomplish any goal you set forth you must first be dedicated to seeing it through to the end. Seeing it through to the end is a mere fraction of the entire equation; your attitude is another critical piece. The truth is, your attitude ultimately determines your altitude. Simply, how far you go is determined by how you respond to the world around you. If your heart is filled with disdain then the world around you will respond reciprocally.

Your attitude can mean the difference between winning and losing. I once worked with a person who was a hard worker and fairly productive. This person must’ve been very familiar with the definition of success because they always showed up. We all know that a great percentage of winning comes from you simply showing up. This makes clear sense because if you don’t show up, you can’t compete and if you can’t compete, you can’t win. Now showing up isn’t enough, what you do once you’re there is what matters most. This person would show up but their attitude overshadowed the great work they were doing and thus this person was replaced with someone with a better attitude. A bad attitude serves as an overcast to your sunny disposition; most people prefer the sun over the rain.

Your attitude is exactly what can open some doors and close countless others. Commit to memory the fact that you attract more bees with honey not a fly swatter. You must be the honey in this example if you are going to attract the right attention from the right people. One of those bees you attract can mean the difference between you accomplishing your goals or not. It is never too late to adjust your attitude.

People deal with people because they like them; if you are not well liked then you must adjust your attitude.

Morning Cup of Joe – Just Do It

Do you have what it takes to be successful? Do you seriously have what it takes? There are some people who may never reach the pinnacle of success because they simply gave up too early. Some people are amazing starters but simply will not finish what they’ve started. There are many more that lack the necessary discipline and drive required to be successful. For the rest of those who may never experience true success, they simply lack commitment. If you want to be successful and see your dreams come true, you have to be determined.

On the way to the top you will face doubters, many of which you recognize and some who are disguised as friends; continue to push forward. You will encounter dream killers who attempt to find fault in all of your dreams; continue to push forward. There will be times when you feel like giving up because the results you seek are not exactly the ones you have been producing; continue to push forward.

My journey to the top has taught me that before you can experience true success you must be able to handle it. By handling it, I simply mean that you must be able to watch as others experience success and not be jealous or upset by their progress. You must be able to stand and cheer for the person who wins while maintaining the understanding that your time will come. I truly believe that if you can genuinely celebrate the success of others without an envious heart the tables will eventually turn, if and only if you don’t give up on your dreams.

I have learned that some people will be there for the long ride and others for a short period of time. I have learned that some people will support you while others will not. I have learned that some people will call you when they need you and others will call you once you’ve made it. I have learned that some people will offer to help you while others wait on the sideline for the plane carrying your hopes and dreams to crash and burn.

I once asked a successful motivational speaker how he was able to do it and his response was simply “by doing it”. At the time, I felt as if he was brushing me off and didn’t want to share his trade secrets because of the fear of competition but that was all in my head. Then it all made perfect sense; Nike makes billions of dollars off of that three word catch phrase; “Just Do It” and that’s not by accident. If you want to be successful and make your dreams come true, you truly have to just do it. Just go for what you truly believe in and stay committed until you get it. If you don’t give up, your dreams can come true.

Life is too short to be doing something day-in and day-out that does not bring you self-fulfillment. I am more fortunate than most to have found what I am passionate about and I pray that you too will find yours, if you haven’t already.
