Morning Cup of Joe – Living The Dream

20131105-072512.jpg

Are you living the life you’ve always dreamed of? Or are you still dreaming? When it comes to happiness and the eminent pursuit of it, one must be intently focused on living their dreams while maintaining an understanding that dreams only come true for those who are brave and/or crazy enough to try to live it. Living the dream is reserved for those who will do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to make sure their dreams come true. It is going to take work, hard work but you must be committed at all costs.

While dreaming may be considered a temporary getaway, the life you dream about living is not impossible if you work tirelessly and feverishly to ensure that it does indeed happen. Unfortunately, the test usually comes before the lesson. Simply, if you are committed to accomplishing your goals and dreams, get ready to be tested. Nothing worth having ever came easily. Why would it change now? Dreams only seem impossible to those who aren’t willing to work to make sure they come true. Once you start your journey, if it is meant to be, everything will fall right into place much like a perfect piece to a puzzle.

The greatest difference between living your dreams and dreaming about living is a fraction of a percentage and is primarily based on your own efforts to make that particular dream come true. Contrary to popular belief, living the dream is not only reserved for those who are affluent and have access to resources. Living the dream is a reality that can be yours if you are not afraid of failing and of falling. The Japanese proverb, “fall seven times, stand up eight” speaks directly to this. You must crawl before you can learn to walk. And you must walk before you can learn to fly.

If you are serious about making your dreams come true, simply be committed to finishing everything you start even if there are bumps in the road. Expect a bumpy ride and expect turbulence. Much like an airplane, if you continue to fly and raise your altitude, sooner than later you will reach an altitude above the clouds where you can soar like the eagle you are.

Stop dreaming and start living your dream; the differences between the two are fractional. What are you willing to do and for how long are you willing to do it to ensure your dreams come true? Quitting is not and should never be an option. Your dreams can only come true if you make them come true. Don’t ever stop believing.

Morning Cup of Joe – A Lesson in Patience

20130827-070628.jpg

If you truly want to learn the importance of patience, emulate a teacher. Most educators have mastered the art of patience. It takes patience to teach lessons to a class with various students who learn at different paces. The best way to master something is to attempt to teach it to someone else. It’s an interesting phenomenon, when we teach, we also learn. You ever notice how while you are explaining something to someone it starts to make even more sense to you? That’s not an accident.

I’m certain you’ve heard the phrase “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. Simply put, anything that is destined to be great takes time to build. You are destined for greatness and it is going to take you building a strong foundation brick-by-brick. It is going to take you reaching deep down inside and pulling out every ounce of endurance from your being. It is going to take patience. The end result will be similar. Much like Rome, you too will stand atop a mountain of your issues, obstacles, trials and tribulations proclaiming victory as the conqueror. Stand up and claim victory, it’s already yours.

Understand this, you have come too far to stop now. You must know that being successful doesn’t happen overnight. Even when it seems like it does for some people, it truly doesn’t. Their day simply came before yours and that’s ok because your day is right around the corner. As you read my words, I want you to accept the fact that your life will and must improve. Know that your dreams are not impossible. If that is your desire then it shall and will come to pass.

Continue to chase your dreams, work diligently towards the attainment of them and be patient while they show up at the exact time they were meant to be there. Patience is not only a virtue; it is a requirement for success.

Morning Cup of Joe – Dream the Impossible

20130806-072732.jpg

Your future success is based on the work you do in the present. Do you want to know why so many people dream impossible dreams? It’s quite simple actually, how much effort does it take for us to dream? Precisely right; it takes little to no effort to think of grandiose thoughts or create these visions of grandeur. In fact, I encourage it. The problem is; this is where most people stop. They stop at the dream stage and never progress to the next stage; the work stage.

The work stage is where you work to meet your thoughts and/or dreams half-way. I say half-way because thinking of the idea is truly only half of the way there; the second half consists of the work that you must put in towards making this idea a reality. Write down your plan of action. If you don’t answer the “how” in how you are going to make this dream come true, it will be almost impossible to do it. The how is your set of instructions, your directions, your plan of attack. Your plan should be very detailed, precise and leave little room for error.

Today is the day you choose to put that thing you’ve been thinking about to work. That thing or idea is worth absolutely nothing if it’s stuck in your head. You need to share it. You need to release it. You need to believe in it enough to take the risk and see if it will work out; it just might. Much like you, I have tons of ideas that pass through my mind on a daily basis and don’t necessarily act on all of them. However, there are ideas that pop into your head that evens surprises you. When that happens, write it down and start working on creating it in order to share it with the world. We’re waiting.

Having seemingly impossible dreams is much better than having no dreams at all.

Morning Cup of Joe – Sticktoitiveness

20130717-065401.jpg

When you set out to accomplish a goal it is critically important that you stick with it and see it through to completion. Now, re-read the first sentence a few more times. Most of the time when we take the initiative to start something, it is almost certain that we are going to be met with obstacles; some of which we cannot avoid. The goal is to simply focus on what matters most; finishing and finishing strong. Remember, it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish that matters most.

It costs you absolutely nothing to create a goal nor does it cost you anything to have the desire to pursuit a dream. The cost that you must consider when you are attempting to make your dreams come true is the price you are willing to pay to make certain that they do. Sweat equity is what you must be willing to invest in order to see a positive end result. Your goals are truly an arm’s reach away but you cannot get to them if you’re sitting down. Stand up and chase your dreams. Do not stop until you get them and even after that, keep going.

The road to success will seem long and at times bumpy but commit to memory the fact that you were born to win. I firmly believe that you were not put on this earth to lose. You were put on this earth to make an impact on the world around you. We all have a purpose in life; the goal is to discover yours then share it with the world. Do not think about the journey, simply focus on the destination. It doesn’t matter how you get there, just get there.

Remember, anyone can set a goal but it takes a winner to complete one.

Morning Cup of Joe – The Dream Chaser

20130531-070807.jpg

One of the toughest things to do is taking the first step. Many of us have the most brilliant ideas and dreams trapped in our minds and may never realize them because we simply won’t take the first step. There is something magical about taking the first step; a type of phenomenon where the stars align in your favor. While the first step is obviously an important one, the subsequent steps you take will be the difference between whether you will see these dreams come true or not. Take the first step and then the next and the next until the brisk walk inevitably turns into a marathon like run. Chase your dreams until you catch them!

When we chase our dreams one of two things will inevitably happen; either the dream will slow down so that you can catch up to it or you will have to speed up to catch up to the dream. Your focus should be on the fact that this is a chase. Chasing your dream means you have to literally get off your rear end, get on your feet and get moving. You will know when you are close to accomplishing your goals because that is when everything will start to seem as if it’s falling apart. It actually isn’t. This is only a test; a final exam of sorts to determine whether you can outlast the problem long enough to hoist the trophy. Don’t give up until and unless you claim your prize. The obstacles are just that; diversions. Stay the course.

All too often we get so close to reaching a goal but find it easier to throw our hands in the air and quit. Quitting is the easy way out and easy is never good in any situation. Instead of giving up, you have got to get tough. You must outlast the obstacles that are blocking your way. Yes, outlast. Some of them you will be able to crush automatically but there will be a few that you just have to be stronger than and even more you have to outlast. Remember that this is a chase, perhaps more like a marathon. And just like marathons, the victor is not only the one who finishes first but the one who outlasts their opponents.

Outlast, outwork and outthink your opponents and you will always produce outstanding results. Dreams are preludes to reality; a reality you must create.

Morning Cup of Joe – F.E.A.R.

20130510-070019.jpg

So many people waste so much time at the line wondering if their shot is going to go in. The issue comes when you think so much that you neglect to act. If you don’t take the shot, eventually time will run out on the clock and the game may be over. This metaphor is a direct reflection of our lives. Most people have the necessary tools at their disposal to create anything they want yet are afraid or unwilling to simply try or do. Stop worrying about whether you will MAKE or MISS the shot, you’ll never know until you TAKE the shot!

A self-induced scare tactic is when you talk yourself out of a situation simply because you are afraid of the outcome. I read somewhere that FEAR stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. Fear can only control what you allow it to control. The false evidence is what we create in order for it to appear real yet some lack the skill of discernment necessary to determine its validity. Simply, fear nothing. Most of us refrain from acting because we believe what we fear is real when in actuality it is not. We create our own fears and thus are the only ones who can eradicate them.

You are standing at the edge of a cliff yet cannot see the bottom. Do you jump? You never know if you will land on a bed of pillows or a bed of thorns but you will never know until you JUMP! Don’t be afraid to follow your dreams. Do not allow fear to get in the way of accomplishing your goals. Understand what role fear plays in this quest of dream realization and your dreams will be realized much sooner. Fear should merely motivate us to act not distract us from the overall goal of winning.

Remember, the greater the risk the greater the potential reward.

Morning Cup of Joe – Blessed Beyond Belief

20130430-055932.jpg

With arms stretched wide towards the sky followed by a cat like yawn, you welcome a new day. At that moment we are faced with a choice; whether to greet the day positively or continue to allow our problems to cloud our judgment and negatively influence our progress. As we prepare to start our daily regimen, some of us will in fact proceed to greet the day unenthusiastically. Others will try to convince themselves that tomorrow will be the day when they start to work on improving themselves. The rest of us understand the importance of living each day to the fullest and understand the art of seizing the day.

For so many, today never seems to become the tomorrow they talked about yesterday. You can talk about it and it may sound real good but without action your words become filled with emptiness. Stop talking about it and start being about it. You cannot reasonably expect that things will change in the future if you aren’t doing anything to affect that change today. Some things naturally don’t happen overnight; I believe that dreams & goals fall into this category. I also believe that we can speed up the process of dream actualization if we invest the necessary time and effort into ensuring that they come true.

We must fully take advantage of the days we are blessed with. If we are on this side of the dirt, we can absolutely influence the change we wish to see in our lives while maintaining the understanding that so many were not afforded the opportunity to embrace this day. You may watch the same news stories I avoid yet each day we all witnesses the stories of countless people who simply will not make it to see tomorrow. It is imperative that we understand how blessed we truly are; stop taking life for granted. Every day we are blessed to see is another opportunity afforded to us to work on our vision, goals and objectives.

Use each day to get closer to your dreams. I know I do.

Morning Cup of Joe – Free At Last

20130401-065715.jpg

It is unreasonable to expect people to believe in your dreams and be more passionate about them than you are. The world around you is filled with dream killers. There are people who simply don’t want to see you succeed. The fact is, misery loves company and if you don’t succeed you will be miserable and if you are miserable you will be keeping a lot of company. If keeping company means failing then I’d rather be alone. It’s true what they say, it is very lonely at the top but there’s plenty of room up here.

Even if there are those who don’t want to see you succeed, succeed anyway. Reach as far towards the sky as you can then reach a thousand miles higher. Create goals so big that even you would be amazed if you reached them. You can achieve what your mind can conceive. How committed are you towards making your dreams come true? There will always be people who doubt you, even those closest to you. The only person responsible for your success is you, stop pointing fingers. If you don’t succeed it’s nobody’s fault but your own. Winners take full responsibility for their actions. You can’t expect others to be passionate about your dreams if you aren’t passionate in your pursuit of achieving them.

As a dream seeker and a person who accomplishes goals, it is imperative that you keep your eyes on the prize. Your focus should be laser-like similar to a racehorse in the Kentucky Derby. Those horses have blinders to restrict them from all of the distractions and other racehorses around them. What is going on to your left, your right and even behind you is none of your concern. At all times focus on your dreams and pursue them with vigorous passion. There is no greater joy than accomplishing a goal and seeing your dreams come true. Your dreams are meant to bring you freedom. Follow your dreams, find your freedom.

Morning Cup of Joe – Belief System

20130329-071045.jpg

You did it! You made it through another grueling day of disappointments and setbacks but you made it nonetheless. You made it through another day of criticisms while fielding the stones thrown by the constant doubters but you made it nonetheless. Today is truly a new day and you have another opportunity to get one day closer to seeing your dreams come true. Believe me, dreams do come true. To clarify, dreams do come true only if you don’t stop believing that they will.

As the sun rises, we must rise with it. We must give our dreams as much time as we give to things that do not yield the specific results that our dreams have the ability to produce. Imagine if you took one of the several hours you spend in front of the television and shifted that focus to accomplishing a goal or achieving your dreams; imagine the possibilities. If you do it, you won’t have to imagine. Dreams do not come true by simply dreaming much like faith without works is dead. You must work for what you want while maintaining the understanding that sooner or later you will get it. Every day that we are blessed to see presents an opportunity for us to give it our best shot just one more time; take full advantage of it.

Just because a particular dream did not come true does not mean that you should stop dreaming. That’s like getting into a car accident and giving up driving altogether. You pick up the pieces and keep it moving on to the next one. You win some and you certainly lose some; that’s what makes the journey so incredibly worthwhile. What keeps me going on a day-to-day basis is my strong belief system. I truly believe that what I dream about has the ability to come true and many of which already have especially if I’m doing my best to make it come true.

Don’t stop believing in the possibility and inevitability of your dreams becoming reality. If you believe it unequivocally then you can achieve it.

Morning Cup of Joe – The Silver Lining

20130312-073731.jpg
If only you understood the power you possess to create something of greatness from complete nothingness, your situation would be totally different. If you only knew how much unlimited power your thoughts possess, you would gain a better understanding as to why things are the way they are in your life. Your thoughts dictate what you attract into your life. Yes, your thoughts are that powerful. What continuously consumes your thoughts is what will continue to show up in your life. If you want different outcomes, you must change the input.

The Law of Attraction subscribes to the thought that “like attracts like”. What you think about you will attract back into your life. You have to practice thinking positively at all times if you are going to expect positive results; this is not easy. Just like anything else, if you truly practice at making this a habit, your thought patterns will become consistently positive and your life will improve dramatically. Don’t believe me? Try it and see! You must condition your mind to ALWAYS find the silver lining, even if there are no clouds.

This way of thinking is not without challenge. It is critical that you practice positivity daily. Each time you find yourself thinking negatively, stop yourself, and explore the positive side. There is always a positive side, always. Remember that there is more than one way to look at a situation. Everything is dichotomous in nature. You’ve spent precious time focusing on the negative, why not try the alternative? I have personally made it a habit to accentuate the positive in all things and at all times. I challenge you to do the same!

It’s only impossible if you think it is.
