Morning Cup of Joe – The Time is NOW!

More often than not, we waste energy on things of little to no importance. Granted many of those things may seem important to the person expending the energy but in reality it does not hold as much weight and authority as one may give them. In addition to the authority a person gives their problems, the incredible amount of energy spent on non-factors reduces the time you could be investing into resolving your issue or accomplishing a particular goal.

It is imperative that you take the initiative to organize your life today. By organize, I don’t mean have every single detail planned out; although that would be ideal. By organize; I am referring to creating a mental picture. Simply, have a clear picture of where you want to be in the future and begin working on making it a reality.Time is truly of the essence; invest more time focused on building your dream.

Once you have a clear mental picture of your desired future, you must now drill down to the details. Drilling down to the details requires you to write down clear objectives and establish “must-outcomes”. Must-outcomes are outcomes that must occur no matter what may try to stand in your way. I separate goals into two categories; desired-outcomes and must-outcomes. It is possible to accomplish goals on both lists, if you focus intently on it.

Reorganize and Reexamine Your Priorities. Accomplishing your goals takes precedence over everything else. Stop wasting time on things that don’t matter and start investing more time into building your dreams.

Morning Cup of Joe – Hard Work Pays Off

Research now shows that the lack of natural talent is irrelevant to great success. This is great news for all of those individuals who thought they couldn’t do something because they lacked talent. There are millions of excuses created daily as to why we continue to fall short of reaching our goals. Now that we know natural talent is irrelevant to great success; what’s the secret, you ask? It is good ole fashion hard work coupled with painful and demanding practice.

The old adage “Practice Makes Perfect” is 100% accurate. The more time you spend practicing to perfect your craft the more perfect it will become. Remember when we all first learned how to ride a bicycle? Unless you are Lance Armstrong, you most likely experienced many failed attempts and/or had to wear training wheels and protective head gear a bit longer than you hoped. Nonetheless, you practiced and practiced until you got it down. Although you may not have ridden a bicycle in a short while, you can still hop on at any time and ride with ease. That’s the power of practice. Your dreams and goals follow a similar pattern.

In order for you to realize your dreams and accomplish your goals you must work at it daily. Inch by inch, piece by piece, if you continue to work at it you will eventually get what you’ve been searching for. Michael Jordan is a perfect example of someone who diligently practiced until he arguably perfected the game of basketball. Practice until you have perfected the game of accomplishing your goals then practice some more. Each day commit several productive hours to focusing on achieving your dreams. You can do it!

“When you are not practicing, remember, someone somewhere is practicing, and when you meet him he will win.” – Ed Macauley

Morning Cup of Joe – Three Digit Number

A very good friend of mine is fixated on a three digit number. For our purposes, let’s say the numbers are “914” respectively. He told me how 914 continued to show up everywhere he looked no matter how hard he tried to avoid them. Most of the time he would restrict from wearing a watch because when he did, everytime he checked the time it would say 9:14; this would happen at night and during most mornings.

One of the more recent stories involved a receipt from a local supermarket where the total of several items including tax was $9.14. A package was delivered to his home for an order his wife had made and she wasn’t there so he signed for the package. Guess what the last three digits were on the shipping number; you guessed it, 914.

After incidents like the aforementioned continued to happen over a long period of time, he decided to share it with someone and chose to share it with me. One evening when it happened again, he decided to call me and ask why these numbers were constantly showing up in his life. My response to him was quite simple. For one, by intently focusing on those particular numbers in that exact order he is subconsciously attracting them into his life. That is why he couldn’t escape them. Here’s the great news and how this applies to you; it works the same way with anything you want to attract into your life. Intently focus on it and it will show up in your life; unfortunately that includes the good and the bad.

Our subconscious mind is able to work on attracting that which we focus on the most. Imagine if he was obsessed about owning a home as much as he has allowed the numbers 914 to haunt his mind; I can guarantee that he would be a homeowner. Would a home just fall out of the sky into his lap? Obviously not. Rather the universe would work in such a way that the opportunity to own a home would present itself more readily perhaps through a job promotion, a bonus or perhaps even an inheritance.

The moral of the story is simply, what you focus your mind on the most will continue to show up in your life. Start intently focusing on what you want to attract in your life and watch as those things begin to show up. Not by magic but through the power of intention.
