Morning Cup of Joe – Fighting Alone

Some people act as if they are fighting their own battles. So much so, that they neglect to notice the real reason why they haven’t lost a battle. We cannot reasonably say that we have lost any battles in our lives to date, especially if we are on this side of the dirt. The fact that you are alive today is proof that you haven’t lost the battle. Keep fighting.

We all go through trials and tribulations but none of us have to go through it alone. That is a choice most of us make, thinking that we are fighting a one man battle employing the concept of “me against the world”. News Flash! The real reason why you haven’t lost a battle is because you haven’t been fighting alone. Some people may think that they are the reason why they haven’t experienced a loss but they are sadly mistaken; God is the reason.

Understand that some battles aren’t yours to fight to begin with. I know a King who has never lost any battles. Would you believe me if you told you that you are a child of that King? If you believe that then what does that make you? You are exactly right, you are royalty. And royalty has its privileges. Remove from your mind the idea that you are the reason you’ve been winning. Give credit where credit is due.

If you truly understood the power your Father has, you would walk a little taller and embrace more challenges. You would also understand that you possess those same powers to overcome almost any obstacle.

Morning Cup of Joe – Creating Miracles

The world is filled with two types of people; those who make things happen and those who watch those who make things happen. I am going to ask you to make a choice, if you haven’t already, between the two groups. Obviously membership in one of the groups has its benefits and clear pitfalls in the other. Once you choose the “right” side, you cannot turn back nor are you allowed to terminate your membership at any given time. Your membership dues are simply based on the effort you put into making the world we share a better place. Your dues are your contribution to the world around you.

To make something happen not only takes an incredible amount of guts, it also takes a reasonable amount of faith. And by a reasonable amount of faith, I mean you truly don’t need much. Remember, that all you need is faith the size of a mustard-seed if you are having trouble moving your mountains. While your mind creates ideas, your hands must work to build them. Faith is the temporary belief in the unseen with the knowledge and expectation that you will inevitably see that which you focus so intently on. Allow your faith to guide and lead you.

From my experience, an abundance of rewards come when we take risks and maintain the necessary faith that it will all work out; eventually it does. Taking risks sounds riskier than it is; you simply have to step out on faith. Walk in the understanding that you were not born to fail. Whenever I see a void, I never wait to see if someone else can fill it. Never sit and watch as things happen, never. You have the necessary tools at your disposal to create anything yet so many of us are satisfied with someone else doing it for us; snap out of it. Grab your destiny by the horns and build your dream. What are you waiting for?

It takes no effort to witness a miracle; creating one is equally laborious.

Morning Cup of Joe – Are You A Quitter?

No matter what you’ve been through or are currently going through it does not have to stay like that. While some of our problems may be the result of our circumstances, a majority of those problems are a result of the sum of our choices. We have all made questionable decisions and poor judgments in the past. Those decisions and choices are exactly why we are where we are today.

If you truly want to change your circumstances, you have to first believe that change is possible. Secondly, you must be willing to start from where you are right now. Lastly, you must be committed to that change. Understand that we place many of our perceived limitations on ourselves by not acknowledging the fact that others with similar situations have found a way out. Guess what? Your way out is possible if you follow a similar path. If you follow the path of a successful person, you will get similar results. No exceptions.

Did you know that there are others like you who have experienced similar turmoil? While your issue may seem like the biggest one in the world, you are not alone. Did you know that most successful people have one key thing in common; they never give up. They keep moving and working tirelessly until they reach their desired results. As long as you are not willing to quit and commit to being successful, it can and will happen. There is truly no time like the present. Take advantage of the days you are blessed to see.

Don’t wait until tomorrow to get what you know you deserve today. The change you seek happens when you decide enough is enough. If you can read this, it’s not too late. In fact, it’s never too late. Everyone has to start somewhere. When will you decide to start?

Morning Cup of Joe – Trouble, Trouble

One thing I’ve been fortunate enough to learn throughout my life’s journey is that trouble truly doesn’t last always. Simply, whatever it is you are going through is as temporary as a passing storm. The longest storm that I know about lasted forty days and forty nights. What you should consider is the fact that on the forty-first day, the sun did shine. Your goal is to last until and even past the forty-first day.

We have all experienced a form of chaos in our lives, perhaps to different degrees but we have experienced it nonetheless. Think back to a time, even if it was recent, where you thought that your problem was the biggest problem in the world. How did you overcome that problem? What did you have to do to overcome your situation? Repeat those steps and the outcome will not be different. The man with no arms envies the man with no legs. The man with no legs envies the man who cannot see. The man who cannot see envies the man who cannot hear. My point is, no matter what it is you are going through, there is someone else who is a little worse off. No, that doesn’t improve your situation but it puts it into perspective.

Understand that trouble is temporary. We were built to conquer and to rise above all obstacles. Draw on the strength that you have hidden somewhere inside you to overcome this minor obstacle. I say minor obstacle because the only obstacle that is difficult to overcome is death. If you can read this, you can overcome any obstacle. The first step is believing that your problem is not greater than your strength to overcome them. Do you believe it? You should.

Morning Cup of Joe – Crabs In A Barrel

It is very unfortunate how some people truly don’t want to see you succeed. In fact, they will stop at nothing to ensure that you don’t. The “crabs in a barrel” mentality is what many of those folks subscribe to. If you’ve ever seen live crabs in a barrel or bucket, you would notice a few things. The first thing you’d notice is that many of the crabs do their very best to attempt to climb out of the barrel. The second thing you’d notice is that the crab that is at the highest height got there by stepping on and climbing on the backs of the other crabs. Finally, you would notice that no crab is ever successful in their attempt to climb out of the barrel because as soon as they are at their highest peak another crab pulls them right back down.

During your journey towards the top, you will face a similar demise; especially if you are committed to success. The first thing that you must understand is that success breeds envy. Some people would rather envy your success than go out and follow a similar path in an attempt to produce similar results. Why? Simply because one takes more effort than the other. It’s easier to envy than it is to work hard. Nonetheless, remain committed to your success and work diligently towards the realization of your dreams. Understand that it matters not what others think or feel about your success, work harder and smarter than them in order to separate yourself from the herd.

Much like misery loves company, so does mediocrity. You may feel like one of the crabs in a barrel filled with mediocre crabs trying to fight your way out. I submit to you to change the way you are viewing your circumstances. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Remove the vision of a crab in a barrel from your mind and replace it with a soaring eagle. You don’t have to be in the barrel amongst crabs if you don’t see yourself as one of the crabs. Enjoy the journey towards success and understand that the only thoughts that matter are yours. Everyone will have an opinion about your journey, mostly because it doesn’t cost them anything.

Focus on your journey, everything else is details.

Morning Cup of Joe – A Reason or A Season

There are distinct reasons why each and every person who comes into our lives enter at the precise time that they do. There are reasons why they exit from our lives as well. Although the reason(s) may not be clear at the time that they enter and/or exit your life, there are in-fact reasons. Do not worry if the reason is not inherently clear especially at the initial stage. In addition, do not worry if the reason never becomes clear to you.

While the reason people enter and exit our lives are important even deeper than the reason is the season. We may never know why God places certain people in our lives at the time of His choosing so we must take full advantage of the season or seasons we have them. Everyone in your life is there to serve a specific purpose. The good news is that they will all help you get stronger; your strength will either come once they enter your life or after they’ve exited. One way or another, you will gain strength as a result of these relationships.

Another major component that we must consider relating to the people in our lives is the value they bring to the relationship. All too often we are blinded by selfishness and personal gain that we neglect to recognize the value one brings and adds to our lives. Rule #1 is simple; learn to value the people who value you. Always ask yourself how and what you can do to improve the lives of those around you especially the meaningful relationships in your life.

Whether it’s for a season or for a reason, God places people in our lives when we need them most.

Morning Cup of Joe – Don’t Stop Believing

You did it! You made it through another grueling day of disappointments and setbacks but you made it nonetheless. You made it through another day of criticisms while fielding the stones thrown by the constant doubters but you made it nonetheless. Today is truly a new day and you have another opportunity to get one day closer to seeing your dreams come true. Believe me, dreams do come true. To clarify, dreams do come true only if you don’t stop believing that they will.

As the sun rises, we must rise with it. We must give our dreams as much time as we give to things that do not yield the specific results we have been seeing. Imagine if you took one of the several hours you spend in front of the television and shifted that focus to accomplishing a goal or achieving your dreams; imagine the possibilities. If you do it, you won’t have to imagine. Dreams do not come true by simply dreaming much like faith without works is dead. You must work for what you want while maintaining the understanding that sooner or later you will get it. Every day that we are blessed to see presents an opportunity for us to give it our best shot just one more time; take full advantage of it.

Just because a particular dream did not come true does not mean that you should stop dreaming. That’s like getting into a car accident and giving up driving altogether. You pick up the pieces and keep it moving on to the next one. You win some and you certainly lose some; that’s what makes the journey so incredibly interesting. The thing that keeps me going on a day-to-day basis is my strong belief system. I truly believe that what I dream about has the ability to come true especially if I’m doing my best to make it come true.

Don’t stop believing in the possibility and inevitability of your dreams becoming reality. If you believe it unequivocally then you can achieve it.

Morning Cup of Joe – Support System

There is nothing greater than being able to depend on others. I learned early on in my journey that you cannot be successful on your own although most of us try our best to prove this theory wrong. Some people may think that just because a particular person garners fame and fortune that they did it on their own. That is a common misconception among the masses which unfortunately sends the wrong message to people trying to emulate them. The truth of the matter is that everyone who has ever experienced success in life have one particular thing in common; a strong support system.

It is absolutely essential that you have a team around you who believes in you and motivates you to be better. You must have people on your team who have your back no matter the circumstances. Your support system includes those who keep you grounded and those who lift you up. Your support system may be family members or they may not be related to you at all. The one thing your support system will have in common is the goal to see you succeed.

The makeup of your support system should not include fans; it includes people who you can count on through good times and bad times. I am more fortunate than most to have members in my support system who tells me like it is, who tells me how it should be and who forces me to be great. There are times when I feel like giving up and my support system is right there telling me why that is not an option.

There were times when I needed financial assistance and I knew I could count on a member of that team to come through. There were times when I needed a shoulder to cry on and I had several to choose from. I spoke to one member recently who told me “I believe in you Joe Paul”. Those six words gave me enough energy to conquer the world. Sometimes all we need is someone to believe in us and we will be able to do the thing we were born to do.

Do not be misled; your support system is not there only for your benefit. You too must add value to this team by being exactly what you expect from them; loyal, honest, dependable and accountable. If you are going to experience success, you must construct a team that encourages you to get to the next level. Your support system should not consist of average people unless you expect average results. Surround yourself around people who think big and expect bigger things from you. You cannot do it alone; that is the only thing that is impossible to do. Believe me, I’ve tried and failed every single time.

Surround yourself around a team of incredible people who force you to be better than you already are.

Morning Cup of Joe – Magnetic Forces

Be a magnetic force. Magnets have the incredible power to attract and so do humans. We have the ability and capability to attract others by virtue of our actions, our attitudes and simply by being who we are. It could be something as simple as a smile or as great as your level of calibration, whatever it may be you have the ability to attract whatever you want into your life.

The interesting thing about magnetism is the fact that you have the ability to attract negative forces into your life as well as positive ones. What you allow your mind to dwell on is what will continuously show up in your life. If you perceive your life in a negative fashion, your life will continue to produce negative results. Conversely, if you can find a way to see the positive in every situation, your life will enjoy the benefits of positivity.

Commit to memory that being magnetic means being attractive. Do not be misled; I am not referring to aesthetics. I am referring to your attitude towards life and towards others. Remember that you will always attract more bees with honey. The better your attitude, the more attractive you will seem to others. Who is more approachable, someone wearing a smile or a frown? Obviously it’s the person wearing a smile.

Do not allow the troubles of the world to become your own. Smile as often as you can while maintaining a positive mental attitude and discover the power of magnetism. You have the ability to attract whatever and whoever into your life by simply being that which you seek to attract; like attracts like.

Morning Cup of Joe – Army of One

It is true that what does not kill you only makes you stronger. Obviously if you are on this side of the dirt you lived to fight another day. What you should understand about the aforementioned statement is that by virtue of you being alive, there is absolutely nothing that you cannot overcome. There is no problem too difficult to solve, no mountain too high to climb, no river too wide to swim and no record too challenging to break if you are committed to achieving excellence at all cost.

One thing I’ve learned during my journey towards enlightenment and excellence is that some days you will feel as if you are walking alone. Some days you feel as if you are in battle and are a member of an army of one. When that happens, which it will, redirect your focus on the fact that you have gotten this far because God never left your side. God is omnipresent; you are not alone no matter how lonely you feel at times. A little prayer goes a long way.

Commit to memory that in the end the victory goes to the person who fights until they’ve won; even if they feel as if they are fighting alone. The battles we fight, no matter how difficult, require strategy to overcome them. What is your strategy for getting over this little hump? What is your plan? It is not enough to think about it, you must write it down. There is incredible power in the written word yet it is not enough to write it down, you must work that plan. It is not enough to work that plan; you must work it until you crossed off everything on your list. All plans require action in order to see results.

Fight like you have a million troops behind you even if you cannot see them. Your victory is yours to claim if you believe you can win your battles.
