Morning Cup of Joe – You Must Fight

It isn’t over until it’s truly over. Don’t count yourself out before you even get into the battle. Oftentimes, we talk ourselves out of a battle before we even jump in. Citing countless reasons why we shouldn’t do something. In the same vain, you must also consider citing reasons why something may actually work. Everything is dichotomous in nature; meaning there are two ways to look at everything. There certainly are positives if you focus intently on discovering them; consider the positives.

You will never know the outcomes of the battles you never fight. If you choose not to fight, you’ve already lost. Understand that nothing in this world comes easily; nothing. The outcome of your battles has already been determined yet that should not prevent you from fighting as hard as you can. The fact that you are still living simply means that you are on the winning end of the battle. It also means that, to date, no problem has claimed your life and thus has made you stronger.

Your primary goal each and every day should be to never quit. Quitting is not nor should it ever be an option for you. First, understand and commit to memory the fact that you were born to win. There is no such thing as an insurmountable battle. No matter how hard it seems and will become at times, you cannot quit. No matter how difficult the battle appears, you cannot quit. Even if it looks like you are going to lose, you cannot quit. Your reward is waiting at the finish-line and you cannot claim any rewards if you don’t finish. Be a finisher.

The only way you’ll know if you can truly win a battle is if you make it to the end. No matter how long and arduous the journey may seem, you must focus on the end result. Do not fear defeat, focus intently on the finish-line and you will win every time.

You can win and you will win; simply because there are no other options for you.

Morning Cup of Joe – The Longest Storm

One thing I’ve been fortunate enough to learn throughout my life’s journey is that trouble truly doesn’t last always. Simply, whatever it is you are going through is as temporary as a passing storm. The longest storm that I know about lasted forty days and forty nights. What you should consider is the fact that on the forty-first day, the sun did shine. Your goal is to last until and even past the forty-first day.

We have all experienced a form of chaos in our lives, perhaps to different degrees but we have experienced it nonetheless. Think back to a time, even if it was recent, where you thought that your problem was the biggest problem in the world. How did you overcome that problem? What did you have to do to overcome your situation? Repeat those steps and the outcome will be no different. The man with no arms envies the man with no legs. The man with no legs envies the man who cannot see. The man who cannot see envies the man who cannot hear. My point is, no matter what it is you are going through, there is someone else who is a little worse off. No, that doesn’t improve your situation but it puts it into perspective.

Understand that trouble is temporary. We were built to conquer and to rise above all obstacles. Draw on the strength that you have hidden somewhere inside you to overcome this minor obstacle. I say minor obstacle because the only obstacle that is difficult to overcome is death. If you can read this, you can overcome any obstacle. The first step is believing that your problems are not greater than your strength to overcome them.

Do you believe? You should.

Morning Cup of Joe – Eternal Optimist

Is there any good left in the world? The answer to this question is a bit tough to respond to especially when the news outlets tend to focus more on the negative things than they do the positive. If you watch the news, you would think that there is nothing but evil out there. Every day seems like a repeat of the one before; especially when it seems as if the news reports have created an equation with a negative outcome which includes a fire, a murder, a robbery and a kidnapping.

The light at the end of the tunnel suggests that you can do something about it. If you feel sad or down after you watch the news, don’t watch it. It really is that simple. One may ask “Well, how else will I know what is going on in the world?” Before televisions, there were newspapers. I haven’t watched the news in years specifically for that reason. It’s not that I don’t want to know what is going on in the world, it’s more so the fact that I find alternative routes that assist me in maintaining a positive mental attitude. The best way to accentuate the positive is to eliminate or limit your intake of negativity.

I do believe that there is still some good left in the world. I also believe that there are still some good, caring and loving people left in the world. Although it’s not the highlight of the nightly news report, there are people doing good for others on a daily basis. You can join this crowd, we have plenty of room. If you want to see more good, you have to do more good. I have not lost faith in humanity although some events and actions of others cause me to question my faith. I remain faithful and hopeful.

Eliminate the “every man for himself” mentality that most people seem to have adopted nowadays. We must share the world and are responsible for one another. If you see your brother or sister in need, lend a helping hand. It could have easily been you begging for spare change. Some of us are a paycheck away from that reality anyway. There is light in every bit of darkness. There is hope in every bit of despair. Today, choose to be the light of the world by illuminating hope in the lives of others.

I am an eternal optimist. That does not mean that I view the world through rose colored lenses. It simply means that I refuse to give up hope that one day things will get better. Perhaps that day is today.

Morning Cup of Joe – Direct Your Own Path

Are you the captain of your ship and the master of your soul? Do you direct your own path or do you count on others to direct you? Do you make your own decisions or are the decisions that affect your life based on what others think you should do? Aside from assistance from a trained professional, not only is it wise but it would behoove you to make your own decisions. After all, you have to live with the outcome not the person directing you.

Advice is free which is precisely why most people seek it and most people give it. We all know that you get what you pay for. Hence, if you aren’t paying for the advice you are seeking, how much value could that advice have? Do not be misled; some advice is priceless and can certainly come from someone who is not a professional but you should certainly limit those options to people who have “been there and done that”. Most people seek advice from people who have never even been in their specific situation. That’s like asking someone to guide you through a path they’ve never traveled themselves.

Unlimited power comes from your ability to direct your own path. There is a decision that you are keeping from making perhaps because you are not sure what the outcome could be. I submit to you that you will never know until you make the first move. Stop asking others and make a decision, now, today. There are clear benefits and consequences to every decision you make. The only person that should be thinking for you is you. In short, make your own decisions and live by them. Your own two feet are the only ones that can direct your path.

Think for yourself.

Morning Cup of Joe – Strength To Carry On

How strong are you? Are you strong enough to make it through your season of unhappiness or will you allow your problems to overpower you? Do you realize where your strength comes from? Are you aware that your strength derives from your ability to overcome obstacles? Are you aware that the more obstacles you overcome the stronger your will becomes? Did you know that you are stronger than you actually believe you are?

I ask you these questions because it seems to me that you have forgotten how far you’ve truly come. Think back to a few of your first trials or tribulations. Clearly you overcame them but how did you do it? The same amount of effort, tenacity and courage it takes to overcome one obstacle is the same amount it takes to overcome the next. In fact, it gets easier. Well, it absolutely should get easier because you have been down that road before. What happens when we repeatedly travel down a road or path? We simply know the ins and outs of that road and no longer require a map. Furthermore, we become so familiar and comfortable with our destination that we may even start taking shortcuts to arrive at the same destination. Solving your problems follows a similar formula.

Pick yourself up by your bootstraps, dust yourself off and stop feeling sorry for yourself. You seemed to have forgotten how strong you actually are. This temporary cloud hanging over your head may not move anytime soon so you must make the conscious decision to move from under that cloud or continue to get soaked by the rain caused by your problems. Make your move! Today is a new day and this new day presents the option to continue to wallow in your sorrow or do something about it.

Your strength is determined by the number of obstacles you overcome. The more obstacles you overcome, the stronger you’ll become.

Morning Cup of Joe – A Sign of Strength

Just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, something bad happens. It seems like as soon as you start making progress of any kind, something happens to bring you back down to where you started if not deeper into a hole. Whether it’s trouble at work, a fight with a loved one or financial struggles, if it’s not one thing, it’s another. When we are going through tough times in our lives, giving up on ourselves should never be an option. The strength to carry on must come from within. At times, you may feel like throwing your hands up altogether but that’s not going to solve your problem. You have to dig deep down inside and find a way to make it through and take it one day at a time.

Tough times present opportunities for us to find strength we may not have even known we had. When it rains, it certainly seems like it pours. When we are faced with challenges, it seems as if they come down like a torrential downpour. The thing about the rain is that eventually it stops. What typically happens after the rain is the sun inevitably comes out.

Expect your sun to shine no matter how hard it’s raining. The bad times in our lives can sometimes seem to outweigh the good but that’s an illusion. Consider the terrible events that have occurred in your life compared to the wonderful things that will continue to transpire and there truly is no comparison. This too shall pass, no matter what the problem may be.

Understand that anyone can give up, that is the easiest thing in the world to do. The true sign of strength is keeping it together and holding on when everyone else would understand why you fell apart. Your best days are ahead of you. Whatever you are facing, no matter how great the problem may seem, is a temporary setback. You have come too far to give up now.

My journey has taught me that most victories come after we’ve experienced great adversity. Your goal is to stay strong and find a way to hold on while you wait on your breakthrough. Believe me, it’s coming.

Don’t give up three seconds before the miracle happens.

Morning Cup of Joe – The Will To Win

What do you do when the whole world seems to be conspiring against you? What happens when everyone doubts your skills and abilities? How do you overcome the pressure of being great? It’s simple. You silence the doubters by winning. Most winners never seek to prove to the doubters that they can win. Our goal is to prove to ourselves that it is possible. In life, you will have people who doubt your knowledge, skills and abilities so expect it. It is imperative that you not allow these external forces to penetrate your will to win.

How you view your chances of winning is detrimental to the inevitable outcome. In fact, you are the only one who can determine whether your outcome will be favorable or not. The heart of a champion is one that knows it cannot stop until you’ve reached your desired goal. The mind of a champion is fixated on the end result at all times. You must visualize being the first to cross the finish line before you actually do and you absolutely will.

The will to win is one that no one can stop. Think back to the last time you won something, anything. What did it take for you to win? Whenever you doubt yourself, think back to the time when you were victorious and hold on to that feeling. If you felt it once, the chances of you feeling it again are pretty high. In the end, the trophy goes to the one who not only works the hardest but to the one who never doubted and always knew they were going to get it. Go and claim your trophy!

Go out there and prove to yourself that you are capable of winning. Everything else is details.
