Morning Cup of Joe – Do Not Worry

Your breakthrough will come when you least expect it.

This message is written especially for you. You who woke up this morning and fell asleep with “it” on your mind. On your long traffic filled ride to work, it remains on your mind. The clock is nearing noon and your lunch break presents another opportunity to invest negative hours into this problem. All you do all day is worry about your problems.

Worrying is counterproductive. While worrying may serve as a step towards the discovery of a solution, you should consider skipping it. The more time you spend worrying about a problem, the less time you’ll have devoted to finding the solution. Another phenomenon is the lack of faith many show after they pray for an answer. You pray then worry then hope. The odds of discovery using this method, at this rate, are impossible. Refocus your energy on what matters most and make it happen!

Many people have the solution at their disposal but lack the necessary discipline to execute. They make it pass the worry stage, breeze through the possible solutions step and stop at the final stage; execution. You must not only think you must also act. Action is required in order to ensure a desired outcome. And just like that, while you are working, your breakthrough will meet you half-way. It truly is that simple.

When you genuinely believe in a desired outcome, worrying becomes futile.

Morning Cup of Joe – Living In The Past

This may come as a surprise to some but to my knowledge there is no time machine that has yet been invented. We all dream about going back to the future and hopefully fixing something we played a part in breaking. In many cases, we hope yet never act on finishing something we started. This is the unfortunate plight of many people who fail to understand that you cannot change the past; all you can do is learn from it and apply those lessons to the future.

Your past, whatever it may be, should merely serve as a reference guide for the future. Most people allow their past to hang over their heads in such a way that it stifles their growth. Your growth is based on your ability to learn lessons from your mistakes. We have all made mistakes, no exemptions. The separation from this group comes when you realize the intended lesson that was meant to be learned from making that particular mistake. Continuing to repeat the same mistake simply means that you haven’t learned the intended lesson.

If you are thinking about an event that occurred in the past or even yesterday, understand that this is not the highest and best use of your time or mind space. You cannot change the past, at all times focus on the future. Tomorrow is not promised but that was true for yesterday and thankfully you are still here. Make today what it should be by thinking forward progress only. So, what’s it going to be? Are you going to live in the past or focus on the future?

Stop living in the past. Yesterday really did end last night.

Morning Cup of Joe – Gone Tomorrow

Imagine waking up to the thunderous roar of falling concrete and twisted metal only to find that the building that once provided shelter and safety was suddenly collapsing on top of you. Your extremely loud screams seem to fall on deaf ears. You are essentially entombed like an Egyptian mummy awaiting your fate. What would you do if you lost everything tomorrow? No one can predict when disaster will strike which is precisely why we must live for today.

It is imperative that you shift your focus from the pursuit of possessing worldly things to the appreciation of the world around you. Most people surround themselves with “stuff”, inanimate objects, hoping that a lifeless item will give them life. Although some people may argue differently, things cannot provide happiness. Maintain the understanding that your happiness is solely dependent upon you. It is essential that you not invest precious hours into futile pursuits.

Whether it is an unexpected earthquake that violently shakes and rattles an island, a powerful hurricane that claims the lives and worldly possessions of a state, a mudslide that reduces a multi-million dollar home into a pile of bricks and wood or a stock-market crash that turns a millionaire into a homeless person, no one is exempt from experiencing loss of any kind. With that in mind, appreciate what you have because it could all be gone tomorrow.

Morning Cup of Joe – Tomorrow Is Not Promised

Whether you like it or not, tomorrow will come and whether or not you’ve prepared for the day is of no importance. What is destined to happen will in fact happen. If you are one of the fortunate ones to greet the gift that is a day, you must begin to understand the importance of maximizing your minutes. You will only be allotted twenty-four hours each day to affect your circumstances. Whether we like it or not, those hours will continue to tick and tock away waiting for you to make your move. We simply need to decide to act and not to continue to watch time pass us by.

Time waits for no man; I cannot stress this enough. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. That is precisely why we should take advantage of every single precious moment. I want you to shift focus from yourself for just a second and think about the people who matter most in your life. When was the last time you told them you loved them? When was the last time you spoke to a parent? Is there someone who has wronged you in the past whom you haven’t forgiven? Today is the day this change happens.

Every message sent to us is meant to be heard at the specific time we receive it. It is up to us to recognize it as a message. My message is simple; learn to appreciate the time you are blessed with. Do not waste time on people and things that don’t add value to you as a person. You know exactly who & what I am referring to. The time is now for you to make those necessary changes in your life. The time is now to choose to forgive yourself and forgive others; that is the only way you will truly move forward.

Since tomorrow is not promised, choose today to be incredible.

Morning Cup of Joe – Self Improvement

How much time did you spend focused on improving yourself yesterday? How many hours do you typically spend on perfecting your craft daily? The amount of hours you invest into bettering yourself pales in comparison to the benefits you receive as a result of this investment. If you don’t already have one, create a mental picture of where you are supposed to be in life. A mental picture is a snap-shot or a bird’s eye view of your future. Create, maintain and work towards developing the image of your desired future in your mental picture.

What needs the most improvement in your life today? Before we can begin to correct a problem, we must first identify it. Step one is to clearly identify what needs to change in your life. This will not be difficult as we are our worst critics and I am certain that you are thinking of a few things at this very moment. There are things in your life that simply cannot continue to remain the same especially if you want things to be different. Things will change but you must change first. If those things continue to stay the same, they are and will be a detriment to your achievement of ultimate happiness. You deserve happiness.

The change we seek begins with our mind-set or state of mind. Your state of mind must be in the “right place” at all times. The “right place” mindset is simply a mindset that is constantly focused on self-improvement & positivity. Condition your mind to always think of ways to improve yourself. Once these discoveries are made, you must feverishly work to drive the change you seek. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like osmosis; the changes won’t happen just by thinking about them, you have got to put in work.

We all need improvement in all aspects of our lives. Make this day and every day count by using each day to find ways to better yourself. Today is the tomorrow you talked about yesterday. When tomorrow comes, how much better will you be?

Morning Cup of Joe – Every Second Counts

How bad do you want to live your dreams? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get what you want? How far will you go to ensure that your goals are achieved? The answers to these questions are based on your desire to be better. Some people are satisfied with where they are; this message is not for them. This message is for those of you who are sick and tired of being sick and tired. This message is for those of you who are tired of watching everyone else enjoy their blessings while you continue to ask God to provide yours. This message is for the folks who are ready to do something about it. This message is for you.

The time and effort put into accomplishing your goals directly correlates with the outcomes you’ve been experiencing in your life. Specifically, if you are falling short of achieving your goals then you are clearly not investing the appropriate amount of time and effort necessary to be the best. What you put into achieving your goals is exactly what you can expect to come out; little to no effort will always yield unsatisfactory results. Adopt the “every second counts” mindset and start spending more time focusing on and working towards accomplishing all of your dreams. Time is of the essence.

In order to have what others won’t have tomorrow, we must be willing to do what others won’t do today. The people you admire most and the countless others who exemplify the definition of success did not get there by accident nor by chance or luck; it took time, hard work, dedication and a commitment to excellence. The common theme amongst top performers is coming in early and leaving late. Be committed to winning. Be committed to doing whatever it takes to live your dreams. Be committed to living the life you were meant to live. You only have 24 hours in a day, for some that may not seem like much, to me that is all the time you need. If you want to win, you must invest your time into creating that realization; that’s what winners do.

The world is waiting for you, what are you waiting for?

Morning Cup of Joe – Right Now!

Most people live their lives in the future; those same people have a relatively difficult time being organized and focused. This makes sense because if you aren’t living in the present then how can you reasonably focus on it. Meaning most people are so focused on the future they neglect to pay attention to the right now. When we neglect to pay attention to the right now, we allow room for external forces to interrupt the natural ebb and flow of our predestined blessings. Focus on the now.

At times, I am baffled when I hear people say things like “I don’t think I can win” or “Tomorrow is going to be a terrible day”. Every time I hear a variation of those statements I always think to myself, “How do you know?” Those statements relatively deal with the future in that you are, in a way, predicting the outcome of a race that hasn’t even started. People count themselves out of opportunities every single day simply because they think they know what tomorrow brings. Tomorrow may very well bring you all the answers you’ve been praying for. Take charge of the present moment and work feverishly to create the outcomes you desire.

Today is the only thing you have some control over. Being concerned about tomorrow is futile as tomorrow may never come. You cannot control that which you haven’t seen. You must understand the importance of living for right now and not only living for right now but living in the moment. Every second we are blessed to hear and feel the beats of our hearts is a second we should devote to focusing on the present day.

Do not be concerned about a future you cannot control; learn to live in the present.

Morning Cup of Joe – Surrender

It happened again. You know how I advised you to pay close attention to messages sent from God? Well, I don’t think I mentioned how frequent those messages can be.

I saw video of an interview with Oprah as she shared how before becoming Oprah as we know and love her, she was an inexperienced actress auditioning for her first ever role as strong willed Sofia in Steven Spielberg’s The Color Purple. She talked about how she had been calling her agent almost on the hour asking for updates when he finally told her “Alfre Woodard just left my office and auditioned for the same role. Alfre Woodard is an experienced actress and you are not. Don’t call me, I’ll call you.”

Oprah was distraught and disappointed because she just knew she didn’t have a chance against a more experienced actress. To take her mind off of it, she decided to go for a run on a nearby track. As she was running, she began to sing the song “I surrender all” and simply asked God to do his will and that she was no longer going to worry about it. She turned it all over to Him. A short while later, someone came running onto the track where Oprah was running and told her that Steven Spielberg was on the phone. We all know what happened next.

The beauty in the story is in the surrendering. The final and perhaps most critical piece to the success puzzle is surrender. If you feel that you’ve done everything in your power to yield a particular set of results and it hasn’t happened yet, it is because you haven’t surrendered. There is no need to worry about a future you have no clue about, turn it over to God. When you surrender, you trust God to guide your steps. When you surrender, you give up all desires of your own. When you surrender, you must be satisfied with however God chooses to bless you.

Choose today to surrender all. Give it to God and watch as His will be done. There is no power in the universe that can interrupt God’s plan. What God has for you, is truly for you.

Morning Cup of Joe – Time For A Change

“But that’s how it’s always been done”, “I just don’t want to go through this again”, “Things will never be the same”; these are examples of the self-talk many people have about experiencing change. Most people fear the unknown for the same reasons they should embrace it. The fact that you cannot determine the future should be comforting simply because you should accept the things you cannot change nor affect. Conversely, accept the fact that you are equipped with the necessary tools to handle any type of change. We do not know what changes will come about in our lives but we must embrace them or risk being left behind. Change happens.

You have been down this road before and stared at the same street sign, this time make the right decision. It baffles me how many people stay in horrible situations simply because they have not figured out how they can survive outside of that situation. You are in control; plan then execute. What happened to the fight that was in you before you got into this situation? What happened to your “Not Me, Not Ever” speech? Exercise your right to understand that you have alternatives. Being miserable is truly a choice. Since we now know this as fact, choose to live a life worth living; even if it means starting over. The greatest difference between living the life you were meant to live and the life you are choosing to live now is a matter of personal choices.

The Civil Rights Movement brought about positive change in America. The road was long, the task arduous and the mission seemingly impossible yet these brave souls were committed to change, even if it meant their lives. Are you willing to die for something you believe in? Imagine a world where the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Winston Churchill and Gandhi simply accepted things as they were and did not champion change.

Change is good, especially if you take advantage of the incredible amount of opportunity that comes with it. You should strive to stay prepared as you never know when you will experience change but be certain that it will inevitably happen. It is not a question of “if” change will happen in our lives; it’s a question of “when”. Be prepared and commit to memory the fact that you don’t have to get ready if you stay ready.

This is a New Day and the world welcomes the New You! There is nothing wrong with pressing the reset button if the system freezes.

Morning Cup of Joe – Road Less Traveled

There are no accidents. There are no coincidences. Everything that happens in your life happens as it is designed to happen. While some may say that the aforementioned claim lacks credibility, I challenge them to prove differently. Everything that has happened in your life up to this point has gotten you where you are today; the trials, tribulations and triumphs have all been part of your design.

Your successes and failures have also contributed to your current state. Do not be misled, for the most part, where we are today is a direct result of the sum of the choices we’ve made in our lives; good and bad. The thing about choices is that when we choose, it simply means we have options. Imagine driving down an unfamiliar path when suddenly you run into a fork in the road; you cannot go straight, you have two options, left or right. The choice you make will ultimately determine where you end up. Choose, don’t just sit there and wait for a sign. The choice you make will always be the right one for you.

Don’t be afraid to try a route you’ve never traveled; you truly never know where it might lead. Some people restrict from making choices because they don’t know what might happen. This may come as a surprise to some but you will never know what might happen if you never take a chance. Remember the fact that there are no accidents, so no matter what choices you decide to make, know that it is a part of the ultimate plan.
